Question about Shift Lever!!!!

Hey guys, I have an Automatic e92 335i and my shift lever is loose when going between DS and D mode. It wouldn’t click in like my buddy’s would. My DS mode still works but I would have to keep my hand on the lever or it would go back to D. Sucks because I can’t even use my paddle shifters :/ Any help on why it’s loose?

If it's loose going side-to-side, maybe a spring in the shifter assembly came loose? I'd look for another assembly in the junkyard and just replace it.

Hmmm does it matter what type of e90 vehicle? Or should I just play it safe and get another 335 shifter assembly?

Question about Shift Lever!!!!

The toe on my 87 CR 125 flops up and down a good 3/8 inch due to the actual shifter hole being wallowed out that rivet goes through and being that a new one cost $39 I was wondering if I could drill out the rivet, reweld the hole up and drill a new hole ?

The gearshift assembly is the same part for all steptronic automatic equipped cars.

There are plenty to choose from on eBay right now!

Hello, I saw a bunch off of eBay and it was honestly a really easy job. Now my shifter is actually locking into place haha.

If you remove the shift boot, you can see how the mechanism operates. I had difficulty shifting over to DS a few times and when I removed the boot, I noticed there's a little plastic bushing that looks like it's missing a piece and isn't staying in place. This plastic circular bushing was dislodged and blocking the shifter.

I added a bit of grease with a toothpick which was enough to hold that bushing in place and it's been working fine ever since.
