Never do a drain and fill on your coolant system. It's either you do a full flush or you just leave it alone entirely.

A drain and refill is what I do. Mix with 50% distilled water.

I read somewhere on here a long time ago that it increases the changes of some sort of plastic bits inside the cooling system breaking free and clogging something, or something along those lines. I do not remember the details. But one user went to great lengths explaining why you should never drain/fill your coolant system.

Anyone might have some more info on this?

I can find logic in that statement if you fill with some other color/type coolant. But then chemistry lesson begins where you gotta see if it reacts with plastic/metal used in that specific car.

Coolant may deteriorate plastic or even react with metals which it wouldn't if correct coolant is used.

He might have meant that fresh coolant may wash loose contamination that have settled in dirty coolant system.

that person was an idiot.

regularly draining and refilling the system with fresh coolant is how you keep electrolysis from happening in your cooling system.

it's literally part of the recommended maintenance.

Yep I agree its what you should be doing on a regular basis, at least if you care about your car that is.
