M2 CS or 2019 Z06?
Dealship just came up with a beautiful, low mileage used Z06 manual for $64k. I'd trade in my 2017 M2 but not sure if I want to wait for M2CS.

Two different categories , it all depends to you and only you . Bought the M2CS , had the OG model , sold it for the CS , hearing all those positive feedback on the already nearly perfect OG , made me want the CS so bad . In the near future , you will have the original BMW M2 CS , yes the first generation M2 but the top of the range limited car , which nowadays , its rare having such a car - no real competitors , and on the other hand you will have just a newer gen of the Corvette . It all depends on you. Knowing that the next generation of the M2 will be a lot different especially on the design language , you might have to think and considere the M2CS as a good option !

If you don't need back seats, then why not. I still drool over Corvettes when I see them, and I don't think the C8 detracts from the C7 because they are so different. I think the C7 looks better than the C8. C8 still needs few years to mature. If you want back seats, more day to day utility, and don't want the daily "this car is going to be the death of me one of these days" each time you climb in and out. Then CS is going to be a good way to go. |

A lot depends on your budget. The M2CS will be at least $25,000 more than the Z06. Then again the Z06 will probably have a much higher insurance cost than the M2CS. Personally the Z06 wouldn’t work for me because I couldn’t but a road bike in the trunk. It fits perfectly in an M2(C)(CS) with the back seats down.

If bench racing is your thing. 4s isn't a horrible trade off to be able to haul your bike around. CS made it almost to same top speed, but can't match the blisteringly quick acceleration of Z06.
https://fastestlaps.com/tests/z523pbm47jo4 I believe the unofficial Z06/z07 time on the ring is 7:10. Roughly 30s faster than rumored CS time. |

Do you also plan on tracking the car? From what I have heard the C8 has some overheating issues. Don't quote me on it. Just heard from some gear-heads who were contemplating their next vehicle. The overheat issue was brought up when I suggested the Z06 for daily and track duty.

Have you ever driven a Z06? They are absolutely brutally powerful. Honestly feels like way to much power for the street. Can hardly ever go full throttle anywhere and you dam sure better be a good driver if you want to play with it. That said, they are a truly epic piece of machinery.
Hard to even compare the two in my mind. They are both passion purchases so go with what your heart tells you! Last edited by robertm; 04-09-2020 at 01:44 PM.. |

Z06 has 4,300 miles and is perfect. And yes I've driven a few. Not afraid of too much power for the road because a) I have other daily drivers, b) I have other powerful cars. All my cars do get on track but I have a dedicated race car (Spec E46) and a track club DE car (Z4 MC). Both have safety gear and better on track then any street cars. I do have a habit of buying two and keeping the one I like best. Not a bad idea to trade current M2 for Vette then get CS and decide from there. Funniest part is I REALLY want a GT350R.

CS is a tuned up C (in a very tasteful way). It carries all the inherent shortcoming with F87 platform. The gravity transfer on the fly of it can never be as stable as that of a ground up sports car - less grip under all circumstances (especially when not in the straight). The power plant is lacking too, unless you mess up with factory tuning (then better start off with a C).
However the CS carries all the good qualities you expect from a BMW compact coupe - comfort, practicality and reliability. It also looks good except that from some angles it's really way taller than any coupe should, especially when sitting next to another coupe (A5, C coupe, M4). From a daily drive perspective, an ultra responsive, powerful and good handling M coupe is very tough to beat. But from performance standpoint, Corvette takes a huge lead.

Z06 hands down. The CS is just not all that compared to a M2C anyway. Z will feel in a League of it’s own, while the CS is a souped up M2

As spoken by a "heartbroken" M2C owner. The differences between C and CS is pretty dare big. I know that hurts many of you to hear but....

For what?? Some carbon fiber and a tune? But I guess there is a sucker on every corner Keep telling yourself the differences are worth $30k over a C. Besides, we all know in terms of performance for the price American Muscle is where it's at. 650HP and 650TQ in a lighter chassis with way wider rubber. No contest.

To me a souped up M2 in a CS is a compliment. Coming from a n55 M2, the CS will be a radically new experience. 79 horsepower increase over a n55 M2 plus the M2 is a really fun car to drive.

I just got a 2020 Ford Raptor after LOTS of BMW cars/SUVs and I'm very happy. American vehicles have come a long ways AND you don't pay extra for basics like keyless and Apple CarPlay, etc.

The vette will be much faster and much less practical. The bmw will be rarer, nicer and much easier to drive. C7s are wide and low as hell in narrowbody form, the Z06 is even wider and lower. I’m sure it’s not super easy to see out of that car either. Meanwhile the bmw has great sight lines and I drive my M2c in the city all the time so I know it’s generally an easy car to live with. Plus it’ll be super rare if thats a thing you care about
But if you intend to get on the track a bunch and want to actually go as fast as possible? There are few cars that can match the price/performance balance of the C7, especially with the god levels of power that come in the Z06. |
