A sign of things to come?

Yikes, I hope this is just part of the camo and isn't going to become the norm for BMW M/Sport models.

the electric batteries have to be cooled somehow. BMW has said that they are going something like 50% electric in 5 years or such. Thus, I'd be surprised if you don't see more of these big hoods, scopes, and grills, to make people think you're buying am engine instead of a Cellphone.

You are giving too much credit That’s just a silly looking design statement with no more functional benefit over other BMW grills.

Battery cooling is better via liquid cooling anyway...

Design appreciation and hatred are obviously personal matters. But fwiw, I'm in the hatred category on oversized grills. Lexus, BMW, whatever. Hate 'em. They draw the eye only to the grill and...the eye is repelled, imo.

This can't be the final design (I hope) and if it is, they need to send Chris Bangle a formal written apology, actually they should have already sent him one as the new grilles already in production like on the 7 series are simply atrocious

Yep agree they are ugly - and Lexus were the first to go down this path - and they've been ugly ever since.

I think the only car that Lexus makes where the spindle grille looks good is on the LC500. fwiw Lexus is making the LC for MY 2021 and retaining the NA V8, there's some changes to the suspension wheels, colors and updated electronics. The new convertible version looks amazing and an F Sport version with +/- 700 hp is rumored to be in the works,

They very well may, I posted a few months back about a new 6 series to compete directly with the 911, F Type etc., if they do indeed make it I'd guess the 8 series will be canceled.

We know the 8 series is on the chopping block.
The chance of a 6 series coming back is below zero%

If any thing comes back will be a EV only coupe. i6?

If you say so. I know no such thing...

That said, I'm not sure I'd bet against you but I won't go as far as saying, "know".

The article I was referring to:
Carr Buzz 01/21/2020: The 6 Series To Make A Triumphant Return
https://carbuzz.com/news/bmw-6-serie...umphant-return
My guess is they'd sell a lot more of these than the previous 6 and current 8 series especially if priced right...this could also be a great competitor to the ever growing in size 911

I'll likely get beat over the head for saying I like that M/6 rendering (minus the grill) as it is starting to look like a Lexus LC and that's a damn gorgeous car and I'm a huge fan. If the LC F comes out, isn't based at the rumored $200K and they ditch the early 2000 Infotainment I'm in on it.

However, I know that I'll likely never have to worry about the $200K price point as Lexus is married to their Infotainment system just like BMW is to iDrive. Just upping the screen size (and resolution) in their 2020 models is just window dressing to a piss poor overall interface. Sure the touchpad introduced although better the old mouse like controller is a step up but the UI absolutely sucks to begin with.

Came within inches of getting the LC but the out of state dealer I was talking with sold it to another party on the Lexus forum I had asked about the reputation of dealer on...live and learn. Nonetheless, it's a damn nice ride and the new vert is simply stunning. I agree wholeheartedly the infotainment sux but it's supposed to be upgraded for MY21. I also hope they redesign the seat bottoms for the touring seats as they have a weird angle (probably designed to keep one's butt in place) but it places unnecessary pressure on the tailbone area and many have complained about them not being very comfortable. Although the car cannot touch our M8/850's in term of performance the NA V8 is a welcome deviation from all the force feed power plants these days. I also like how the coupes have glass roofs and both driver and passenger side dimming mirrors unlike that our beloved M's. The M/6 rendering does look mighty nice indeed, but I think we're stuck with the giant grilles...F'ing Chinese market strikes again causinging a less than elegant product for the rest of the world...no offense to our Chinese members/friends but unfortunately it's true.

Nice video of the LC Vert https://www.lexus.com/future/LC-Convertible/#/1

I still might lean to the 911, but that Lexus is tempting.

Strongly urge you to take your family for an extended test ride in a 911!

Wrong choice of words
It has been reported that the 8 series is on the chopping block with the new CEO as they need money for the electrification.

I am guessing that the 6 series won't come back because it was killed off due to being a money loser for BMW.

Totally agree and if I could only comfortably fit in a 911 it too would be on the shortlist of my next car after the M850i. I've tried more times than I can count over the past two generations of 911's to fit in one but in both my head is literally scraping the roof liner.
