Aluminum heat sink oil filler cap
Anyone use one of these, or one of these?
I was inclined to think these were kind of gimmicky at first, but now I'm thinking that if the really do help dissipate heat from the OFH, maybe they will help prevent the OFHG from failing, or at the very least help reduce the odds of premature failure. If you have an experience with either brand, please share. Any benefit to one over the other? |

I bought the CTS one, it turned from black to copper over time. Doesn't bother me though.

I bought it mostly so that I don't need a filter adapter. Much easier to just slap a socket on there.

I bought it after getting an email offer from BMS. I've seen all the posts about the filter housing gasket, and what a PITA is is to change. Knowing why radiators and amplifier heat sinks are made from aluminum, not plastic, I figured why not? And it does look nice, even though I may be the only person to ever see it.

Me too. I had a hard time getting the oem cover off and said to myself there has to be a better solution. Got the bms one on discount. It does look cool. Never thought about the heat sink idea.

You must have gone to the same photography school as my wife. On our cross-country honeymoon I drove, she took pictures. We have her thumb in Minnesota, her thumb in Iowa, her thumb in Nebraska, Colorado, Utah and Arizona, and my personal favorite, her thumb in Las Vagas.
