Newtis question

Looking at some repair procedures and the associated torque value pages. What do they mean when a torque value is listed as 2,6nm? I found the system otherwise straightforward but I can't make sense of that.

Are you wondering what the torque value is? In Europe and other places in the world where they use the metric system they use Newton meters as opposed to inch pounds, or foot lbs for torque spec values. They also use a comma where we would use a decimal. 2,6nm in Europe would be written as 2.6nm in the U.S.

2.6nm/2,6nm translates into 20 in lb.

Thanks, I thought it might symbolize a decimal point but I wondered why they wouldn't just use a decimal point.

Because in Europe the decimal and comma are reversed? :

Correct. Not sure if it's all of Europe, but I know in the Netherlands for sure, a comma is used to denote a decimal.

If only there was a symbol just for the decimal point that we could use so dumb Americans like me wouldn't be confused...
