2021 MY Changes, also when available for order ?

Hi All, my current X1 lease will expire by Nov 2020.. Anybody aware any new changes for X3 with MY2021? also, when they will start production? I am in Canada, so the ordering guide may be different than US.

I saw X7 and some other model has 48V hybrid, will X3 in North America get those technology?

I am currently considering between a Volvo XC60, but do prefer X3, my friends told me Q5 will have a major new re-design.

Appreciate your help..

Just some educated guesses here . . .

MY21 production will likely start in August. I doubt we'll see the 48V system until the LCI in MY22, if then. From the list of changes we've seen for the other models, I'd guess we'll see iD7 become standard on US X3s (it was already standard on the X4) and Android Auto will be added. Other than maybe a change in colors here or there, I don't think there'll be anything else, especially considering that the MY20 models had a surprising number of changes for a non-LCI year.

X3 M40i will get it this year too. Starting with 6 cylinder engines on G30/G20/G01 and I also assume G12. I can't find my document showing the release and models.

48V mild hybrid is allready confirmed for the various G01 Diesel engines in europe.

With the M-Sport trim you can now order shiny red brake calipers.

Still no 2021 order guide? Weird. If 2021 production is starting August, shouldn't we have one by now? Any insiders here? Will be useful to know what is in 2021 before pulling the trigger on a 2020.

It's been known for the order guides only to come out a few weeks ahead of production starting up. This close to 2021 models I'd say just wait to order one of those.

It is odd. I believe that all MY21 order guides are out except for the new 4 (understandable) and the X3/4. The MY20 X3/4 order guides were out in June last year.

And last year there's wasn't a global pandemic that caused production to be halted

Yes, but it does not look like they have changed the schedule. My dealer told me today they cannot order MY20 custom build any more.

That actually makes sense assuming MY21s will begin production August 1.

What does everyone think of the appearance of the recently released iX3? I’m guessing those cosmetic changes will be the same LCI changes next year for the model X3 year 2022. That’s just my guess. BMW seems to be pushing the kidney beans closer together, almost merging them together as one.

I’m on the fence. I can’t decide whether I like it or not.

BMW has been moving in the direction of joined one-piece kidney grilles across most of its lineup, so I expect the X3 LCI will feature the iX3's updated grille as well as the iX3's updated rear lighting. As a matter of fact, I'm now wondering whether the X3 LCI may come a year early and adopt the iX3's styling cues for the MY21 model. Maybe that's why we haven't seen the MY21 guides yet? Maybe BMW wanted to introduce the updates in the iX3 first??

Noticed that the ix3 has driving assistant pro. I don't know what real benefits there are over the plus aside from the eye tracking, but that could mean the X3 LCI (whenever it happens) will move to pro also.

My dealer said you could order 2021 now and it would be the same prices. Usually they change something every year like some form of options every year right?

I suspect he is taking the order at his end. And he will put it in the build system when that opens up (maybe 1-2 weeks?). At that point he will probably adjust any changes. But let us know if you find more.

2021 x3

I was able to order an X3 2021 on Friday through my dealer. I’ve read there are a few options and colors that are available on the 2021 that he didn’t go over with me. My original order was based off the 2020 order form. The only thing I can verify is the drivers assistance package is standard now and acoustic glass is no longer available.

I endup ordered a Tesla model Y as I am sick of waiting for BMW to publish the 2021 X3 ordering guide.

I know it will be some risk for the Model Y, but plan to own it for 3 years, hope not too much trouble. Electric with no combustion engine = Less maintenance.

Performance will be very comparable to M40i and price like a loaded 30i.

just had a 30e for 24hr demo, dealer either completely unaware of UK changes or a decent Poker player. Said he's heard the doorcards may change, some more piano black around the centre console, and one rumour of some X3's being built in South Africa- that's it for the UK, so he says. My delivery has now drifted to mid march 21.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you think of the 30e ?

People on the forum keep saying "wait/get the 2021 X3M40i because you will get the 48v system" but I have yet to see this confirmed anywhere.

Anyone know if this is true? I assume this would likely be an LCI update in 2022 but maybe 2021MY will be the change?

Loved it, already pining for the HUD. A little odd moving off in pure electric, had that sound of a 70/80’s milk float. The boot is a big compromise, but a roof box sorts that. Not convinced on the Harmon kardon upgrade, but didn’t have too long for a proper play. Two minor issues really.

One of our well-informed insiders say it's coming for MY21, but I'm not sure it's the sort of thing that's really worth waiting for if you can get a good buy on a MY20.
