confused - do I have Adaptive M suspension?

hi all

I thought my 2019 M40i had Adaptive M suspension, at least when i decode my VIN it says "adaptive M chassis" (S2VF)

And it has the Adaptive button next to the drive experience switch.
And I can set suspension to Sport or Normal in Sport Individual mode.

But...when I look on BMW Connected drive, for my car it says that I need to pay $650 (Australian) for Adaptive M Suspension. It goes on to say that the car is fitted from factory with the hardware, but doesn't really say what the $650 is for...

Is it to activate the system?

If you have the button, than you have adaptive. You can also find other stuff in the store, which you already have and paid for. Enjoy your ride!

I don't think that's true. I've seen and test drove some X3s that didn't have Adaptive suspension yet they had the Adaptive switch.

Do you feel a difference (comfort wise) when changing from sport to comfort and vice versa?
If so, you definitely have the Adaptive suspension and you don't need to worry about it.

Definitely feel the suspension difference between Sport and Comfort modes.
But no difference between Comfort and Adaptive.

Then you definitely have Adaptive suspension.
In a different thread I asked people if they feel a difference between comfort and adaptive mode, almost all of them said they can feel a minor difference, but I don't. I tried in different types of roads and speeds, nada!

In adaptive you we notice throttle response and steering more when driving aggressively and suspension when using Navigation.

Turn your front wheel to a full lock and look at the strut. If there is a cable attached to it, then it is confirmed that it has adaptive suspension.

Thanks all. Related question... is M Adaptive suspension on the X3 any lower than normal non-M suspension?

I thought (could be wrong) that M suspension is slightly (10mm or so?) lower than non-M. I don't believe adaptive suspension further lowers it on already M suspension.
