323i stalls when hot

Very odd behavior.
2009 - 323i - 197,000km runs well for days and then it stalls. I have to wait 30, 40 mins to cool down and then it runs again for a while.
I disconnected the MAF sensor and runs for ok (a bit rough and revs up and down 500 - 900) then the same results.
The error codes I get are mainly from the ECU 2A38, 2A32, 2A31. P1030, P1014. P1030, P1006
eccentric shaft sensor ?
valvetronic shaft sensor?
Is this something I can change/repair without too much fuss? Or is this a garage bound repair?
I have moderate experience but not an extensive set of tools.
Any suggestions?

You'll have better luck in the E section.
