She is heavy. Four-wheel drive and other. But even for such a weight, this is an excellent result at the ring. But the fact that times are better than Nissan GTR I honestly did not expect.

This article was a great read. Thanks!
For one, this is from Sport Auto which has become the authority on getting the best real-life performance out of cars on the Nurburgring. Pretty unbiased, trustworthy numbers and excellent feedback on the cars themselves. Especially Christian Gebhardt; I take his numbers over any factory driver... Things that stand out is that the M8c isn't just the fastest BMW ever tested but also the most neutral and stable BMW at the limit to date, bypassing all other M cars including the recent M4 GTS. The transmission also uses a different shift logic than the M5. They had to manually shift the M5c on the Nurburgring due to high latency in automatic while this time they used auto for upshifts and downshifted manually. To my surprise, this also wasn't a particularly underrated engine, the Dyno was within 2HP of stock. Btw, they Nurburgring settings were: DSC off, 4WD, engine, suspension, steering and braking in Sport mode. He considered Sport mode better on the track than Sport Plus He seemed to be very pleased with the brake by wire system in the M8 Overall, reading the comments I feel the M8 did better than just run a great time. Would love to see the car loose some weight, but I wonder how it would do with just an ECU tune, some lightweight forged rims and Cup 2 tires. |

Tuners like AC Schnitzer etc. will sure do a great job in making the M8 even faster in the very near future. This is going to be interesting

I think Phatcat uses the digital subscription of AMS or Sport Auto. I am too cheap to buy the subscription or articles... There is a translate service for images that should work with these but haven't tried that. |

Thanks, saw your comments, you read German well. Also interesting about the dyno #'s not being underrated like the M850's, but if it wasn't conducted on the same type of dyno (Mustang in the M850's case) therein may lie the rub...

I was surprised how close the car is to stock... Do we have anyone here that actually put their M8c on a dyno? |

Yes and no. I think they did a little work with the suspension. This is purely my personal opinion. Electronics can also be changed before race, and then returned to stock.

Thanks, this means the % gains over stock are far greater for the M850, truly a performance bargain
