14 435i Overheat message

Was driving around today until i got an overheating message and to pull over/turn the car off. Couple days ago, coolant leaked from under the hood and it started to smoke. My mechanic told me it was due to alot of pressure from the water pump. He checked the car & said there were no leaks. Now today im in the same situation again. Can any body provide any help for what might the problem be ?

Pull up BC menu and read coolant temp.. Also check reservoir level after it cools a bit, you may have a leak or car is burning coolant..

No leaks so far, im thinking waterpump/thermostat or cooling fan is the issue

If it leaks when its giving the warning about overheating, then I doubt its the thermostat.

Do you know how to get into the hidden menu? Go there and check the coolant temp.

Hold the button circled here for about 15 seconds

Then it will bring up a menu where your odometer is. Press the button until it cycles to "unlock", hold again

Then enter the sum of the last 5 digits of your vin. For me that is 9+4+6+8+9 = 36. Once entered, hold.

Press the button until you reach temperature; hold

Press the button until you see Coolant Temperature (and now read it)
