Intake Help (Suggestions)

Hey all! First post here. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a good cold air intake?

I drive a 2017 430i Coupe. Trying to keep it under $500 with the best performance. Appreciate it!

Intakes are really just noise and some can hurt performance. You can get reliable performance from a drop-in Pro Dry air filter from aFe. Washable and reusable for about $75

You dont mod these turbo BMW like your N/A Honda's in the past.

The OEM airbox on our BMWs are that good. For what it costs, intakes dont provide much performance value. A short ram(I call it hot ram) may even be detrimental. Sucking hot underhood air is like increasing density altitude(same as decreasing air density)

If you're looking for performance use the $500 towards a BM3 or MHD stage1 flash tune. Maximum performance per dollar.

If tuning was not in your plans, a smoother turbo intake pipe with larger diameter connection point and a high flow drop in panel filter will provide better performance than a "hot ram" intake IMO.

If you're set on an intake, to me, AFE momentum GT or Magnum Force Stage 2 are the best designs, since they're made of plastic(avoids heat soak) and use the factory kidney grill inlet. $525 or $315 for an enhanced? version of the factory airbox, though.

Alright thank you so much for your advice! I might just get a BM3 flash tune. You’d recommend this everything in my car is stock you think it’d be a good upgrade?

Even stock, stage 1 flash is a big jump in power and torque under the curve and you can tailor it how you want.

The only problem is I forsee is you'll want downpipe and stage 2, next. Sorry for your wallet becoming thinner.

Also for B48 engine specific info, there is a sub-forum. Better response and tons of info, here...

You should search the forum this has been discussed in great depth. That said get an upgraded AFE filter only from FCP Euro. It's a nice upgrade and they have a lifetime replacement policy. When the filter needs to be replaced buy a new one then send the old dirty one back for a refund.
