Hi all,

I just picked up my 2017 340i a couple weeks ago. One owner, 25k miles. So far I'm loving the car and the B58 engine, it's a huge performance upgrade from my 2014 428i and my 2011 E90. I've added the OEM rear spoiler and had it painted body color, debadged the xDrive emblem, and removed the side skirt decals. I have a window tint appointment in July, doing 30% all around. I just purchased a genuine rear diffuser which I need to install and I will possibly be adding the front splitter soon. I really want to add some more power to this car but do not want to void the warranty which is intact for another year or so. Any feedback on additional modifications will be appreciated!

Look at the B58 mod section for ideas. Good luck! https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=663

...or don't get too many ideas and enjoy the lovely engine you have like I do!

I have the same car...also xDrive debadged, but I'm suffering guilt over doing that now.

I'm 'stock' through and through. My e46 went close to 400k miles...I doubt the b58 will do that, but I'm going to try! Safer route to go longer, healthier, is to trust our friends the bmw engineers...except for the ones who decided that because they 'could' do something, they should...a bit too much of that for my taste, but I'm getting used to it.

Enjoy your car!

Not to me. I like reliability and don't want to get stranded...and I can't risk it because I'm caretaker to my 97 year old dad.

As it is, stock, though, I can't get excited for more than a couple secs. as it is. You might be adding hps, but you're lessoning the time of the thrill to the speed limit...or wherever beyond that you want to go.

NJ has lots of free drag strips, called tollbooths, so there I might get five secs of acceleration. Sadly, it also handles so well, that I can't have thrills on twisties, either...it pretty much goes 'meh, give me more' no matter what I do. I'm not drag racing and know I'm faster than most on the road as it is. I don't need more power...I need less of a lot of other stuff--size and weight in the car mostly...and less 'technical oversight.' But, that's another thread.

I wouldn't assume your car won't break because you kept it stock. I kept my 335i stock until now 70K. Besides suspension and wheels.

At around 40k miles my stock charge pipe cracked.

At around 50K the car had some minor oil leak and the belt spun leaving me stranded.

At 60K the computer that manages the fuel pump failed and left me stranded once again.

Luckily I had purchased the extended warranty before mine expired so it was all covered.

My friend had a FBO car and didn't have any of the above issues.

In addition with a higher HP/TQ car you have less of a need to push it to its limits as it gives you so much more performance at lower rpm ranges!

Well done. You already have an amazing ultimate driving machine, doesn't matter if you tune or not. A 340 already comes embedded with lot of potential, capable to provide lot of fun.
Amazing low mileage... I also try to buy a 2 to 3 years old car and don't take the huge depreciation when you get a brand new.
Try to enjoy instead of thinking too much on mods... this car is beautiful as came.

You're right, but my last bmw went 386K miles and was stock. I'm apparently seriously OCD about stuff...good for cars...not so good with people.

Nice car! A simple mod is to drop in an aFe Pro Dry air filter. Better breathing provides a little performance bump. Washable and reusable, just keep the stock filter to pop in while the aFe air dries.

I like it... no oil. Is it any good? Proven to create speed racer effect.

Yup. Been using an aFe for over two years. Works great. Washes easily with warm water & dish detergent.

Also took a Sharpie and drew a big "///M" on it before I installed it. Had to be worth at least another 25 horsepower! 😂
