M steering wheel question

For replacing a non m wheel with paddle shifters with the 3 spoke m wheel are the paddles on the m wheel different and do they have a different wiring harness

Recently did a switch to m sport steering wheel. It was pretty easy job aside from the airbag light which I was able to code it.

Did you have to code it because you went from a dual stage US spec airbag to a single stage or is there something else different between the non-M Sport and M Sport airbags?

No I bought a dual stage airbag but the m sport airbag that I bought didn't have adaptive.
