Gesture control not answering/declining call
Hey Gang, I just picked up my new to me '17 540i xDrive and loving it so far. Im having an issue with the gesture controls not answering or declining calls. Volume up, down, and 2-finger custom gestures are working. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Are you using Carplay or BMW iDrive? Do you see the gesture prompts during phone calls as you should for volume/track changes? I noticed that when I started using Carplay (only for music streaming, I still use the iDrive navigation) I was no longer able to use gestures for phone calls. It was so satisfying to "dismiss" telemarketing calls...

Er, use the phone button on the steering wheel ?
Sorry if that sounds a bit blunt but good old fashioned button versus gimmicky gesture? Just my 2 cents |

Maybe a software update will address this. There was a gesture control TSB that noted a software update addressed similar issues.

I would disagree, my favourite thing in the entire car is the skip track gesture, two fingers pointed, that you can program.
It's like using the force to kill shit music!! |

There a button for that as well!
Well 2 actually, either the one in the central console or the scroll wheel thingy on the steering wheel Just don't think gesture is actually a better option in terms of ergonomics However, when we describe something as ergonomic, we don't just mean that it's fit for human use. 'Ergonomic' means that special attention has been given to the design to make sure it is the best possible fit for the user, the environment and the task But hey, each to their own I regard it as gimmicky ie it's clever in its own right but just not the best fit for the task Is it 100% reliable? I bet it's not |

Hey Buddy,
Were you able to find a solution to this issue? I basically used the volume up and down button on mine along with the function assignment, which is programmed to changed my music. I also notice that I can zoom in and out the Satnav under some certain circumstances. |
