New here

Hi everyone. New to F30 here. I have owned many BMW's dating back to E30. I picked up a 2015 335 Xdrive with 28k miles. One owner with maintenance records.

Looking to keep somewhat stock and drive for a long time.

What troubles should I anticipate and what maintenance do you guys recommend to keep it somewhat trouble free? Thank you all

N55 is a pretty solid engine. Do all regular maintenance on time (Oil, Coolant, Trans fluid + filter, Brake fluid etc etc). Get ready for leaky gaskets, happens to every car, i'd even consider them regular maintenance on these cars.

If you plan on tuning, change your chargepipe out. Weak engine component that will leave you stranded eventually.

...and keep leaves and crap from blocking all your drains...clean and gummi pflege your gaskets.

...and yes, do all the maintenance.

I just did my plugs in a b58...so easy to do.

I believe there's been one problematic cooling hose on your engine, but don't quote me.

Too well in some ways! I miss feeling like I was on the edge in my old nimble e36.

I lived in St. Louis for 15 years...miss it a lot! Are Amaghetti's and Ted Druze...Uncle Bill's Pancake House still around? Oh, and O'Connors Pub!

2015 and 28,000 miles... car is new. Congratulations.
You did a right move staying away from N20 engine (328) up to year 2015.
This 6cil is amazing, but don't be surprised with cover gasket leak.
The electric water pump also may bring problems around 60,000 miles.
But... what car is 100%reliable?

Forgot about that. Yes OP make sure you check the hose from your coolant expansion tank! It's very easy to break and will give way on it's own. I'd swap it out at 40k considering the age of the car (for your peace of mind, it may very well last beyond that.) But for 40$ from dealer and a 30 second swap it's a very worthwhile peace of mind item.

Enjoy my shitty picture. Red is the coolant hose, connects from the coolant expansion tank, runs under the intake. Yellow is typically where it breaks. Metal clips pop out and the hose will slide out.

Thank you. I ordered the hose. Cheap and get it out of the way. No leaks on valve cover or oil filter yet.
What is your take on the water pump and thermostat?

I have the same car. Way too early to worry about water pump or thermostat.

Here's another part that goes bad without guys realizing because it goes bad from the inside out from oil and heat. It will crumble and crinkle in your hands. I replaced mine at 25k miles. See photos. Easy driveway swap out, but the plastic connector on the one end can be a pain to get off.

That sure looks like an easy job. Tell you what, the f30 drives much better than my e36 or e46 did.

Your OEM charge pipe should be OK given relatively low milage. I'd replace it anyway with Evolution Racewerks CP since it's such an inexpensive insurance.

Mike at https://x-ph.com will be happy to help (a nod to Bimmerpost supporting vendor).

Relative to wheels, I bought a set of black OEM wheels. I have the original set. What is the name of these wheels and how much do they go for on this forum. They have some curb rash but id give them away cheap since I have no room to keep them

Looks like 397M wheels. Not sure of the price. I imagine ~$600 for wheels only in good condition.

Like the others mentioned, im at 36000 miles and both pictured hoses broke during repairs of 3 oil leaks: oil filter housing, valve cover, and oil pan gasket. It seems age and climate are bigger issues than mileage for these sorts of items.

I remember this is the only issue that left me stranded.

If you’re big on maintenance Google Mike Miller BMW maintenance.

Congrats on the new car.
