Painted my room, wtf am I doing wrong here?

Random question of the day: so I painted my bedroom, and for some reason the paint looks all blotchy at certain angles. What am I doing wrong here?

Doesn't look like the paint is dry yet.

i think you didnt get even coverage with paint, i suggest doing a quick coat over it by rolling in an up and down motion. Make sure to fully cover the area before it dries, otherwise it dries uneven. This usually happens with the more glossy sheens, flat and satin sheens are usually more easier to paint with

Did you use a roller or brush?
Was the paint mixed well?
Are you using a special paint (Ralph Lauren Suede for example)?
Is the paint dry?

1. Roller. I was doing an even up and down motion across the entire wall, making sure not to miss a spot.

2. Paint was mixed pretty well.

3. Yes, it's Ralph Lauren paint.

4. The paint had dried for about 18 hours.

1. If you didn't run your roller on a paint pan then you can get an uneven application on the wall.

2. Ok

3. If it is "normal" paint the Ralph has been some of the nicest paint to work with that I have used. If it is a suede or similar, then it is a bitch and it is very difficult to get right. Multiple even coats following the wet edge is essential and it is still very difficult to get right. I used a suede in a my bathroom and I had to paint it with three more coats after I thought I should be done and I used a primer.

4. It should be dry.

Thanks for the reply SkiMask. This might be the problem that you alluded to: I rolled only a part of the roller in the paint pan, so only a section of the roller would have a lot of paint. The rest would be fairly dry.

looks like its not dry yet, once its dry itll look even. If your wall was white you dont even need to use primer. first time i paint, i said the same thing too, and keep painting and painting and still uneven till i said Fuk it and the next day it was even.

First off give it 24 hours to dry, once you see the effected area (you should see where some area have less paint than others.) you can touch it up. How many coats did you apply already? One of my room took 2-3 coats to get rid of those blotchy area's. Hope that helps!

Ski Mask is right on the money. I recently painted the entire interior of my house and the Ralph is the best paint I have ever used. In looking at the photos though I can't help but think it looks like suede. If so, this paint must be applied in an x stroke. If its normal Ralph just give it a second coat.
