Well this certainly doesn't look good.

In new CR...repair costs, 5 & 10 year.

I keep saying ... owning a modern bimmer outside a warranty (factory or extended) is insanity.

That is worrying. Time to rethink the extended warranty, methinks.

That's service *and* repair. Isn't a brake job close to $1000?

I lease now, but when I owned my E90 I extended the warranty to 100k. It had several thousands of dollars of work before the time ran out. I also did stuff myself too, water pump and injectors. Of course, the day I did the injectors is the day I traded it in 🤔

I call a big BS on this one.

"Maybe"... if you bring your BMW.... ONLY to the BMW dealer... and for EVERY recommended service/inspection/etc...... then "maybe".

BMW is far more reliable on a long-term basis than many/most of these other brands. While the parts and labor (at BMW dealers) is far more expensive, I still don't believe a word of this.

This list only applies to someone with literally no knowledge of a vehicle whatsoever, how it operates, and how it's serviced..... and whom also takes the car into the dealership, and pays full BMW-pricing for every time he/she gets a minor CEL or hears a strange noise.

Apply that same logic to a Chrysler.... and then tell me the average Chrysler owner only spends $200 on repairs in 10 years?? That's laughable. Most Chryslers are on their last leg of existence and road-worthiness at 10 years.

I ordered my 2019 40i from the factory and got it at he end of 2018. Can I still add the extended warranty? Or was that something I would have had to do at purchase?

I personally will get into the GEICO repair plan, as soon as I get my car... the extended warranty are just too expensive.

they sometime exclude the X5!

5 years is plenty long enough to keep a car. Next.

Of course, they only last 5 years and then they are mechanically totaled.

It's $300/yr., but yeah, that seems low.

I have owned 6 BMWs. A person is insane to own one outside of warranty.

As much as i love my X5, I wouldn't want to own this after the 4 year/200K KMs are over

They basically tell you this when you price out factory extended warranties as the price exponentially increases with years added.

the dollars make no sense in this graph. That dollar amount is "cheap" for all these brands. $900 per year....makes no sense. I have owned several of these brands and none of this makes any sense.
