Bmw Connected weather not working

Hello,

I realized today that my weather and apps were not working on my vehicle?

Anyone have issues with the BMW connected in car services?

Yep. Connecteddrive tile has been showing no connection for a few weeks now. Dealer told me to call bmw assist, then they had me call bmw genius and they couldnt help. Bringing it to the dealer one day this week to diagnose

Servers or service likely offline...again. Usually comes back a few days later. I seriously doubt you'll get anywhere contacting BMW, a 'geniau" or any connected drive tech

Both bmw assist and genius confirmed servers werent down. Both techs tried to help me reboot the idrive but all attempts failed so they pointed me back to the dealer.

Unfortunately doesn't mean they're right, just passing the buck. Mine's been offline for ~2 days or so. Usually comes back up on its own

Mine has been saying no connection for the past few weeks now. Im located in the US and had the car new for a year and a half now with only 13k miles.

Restart the head unit, holding down the volume button for 30 seconds. Also Perform a connected drive update. Go to the connected drive screen and press options. Then click update BMW assist or update BMW apps and services. Sometimes the connection needs to be refreshed.

Mine has been saying no connection for the past few weeks now. Im located in the US and had the car new for a year and a half now with only 13k miles.

At times over the years, mine has been offline for several weeks as well. In any case, hope they can fix for you or the service will miraculously start working again.

volume button on the radio, not the start/stop button. You have to press and hold until the HU restart itself. It certainly works

Sorry for the confusion I meant the radio power button. Holding it does nothing for g01 or in my case. Bmw assist or genius can only allow the ability to reboot the idrive. When I called, they asked for my vehicle info and looked up my car on their end. Then the tech instructed me to hold the radio power button down at the same time he presses something on his end. That is the only way to reboot idrive according to bmw.

One of the things that we all quickly learn on this forum is that many members know much more than BMW "Geniuses" and that freshxdough is one of, and probably the most, knowledgeable member regarding the G01. Not all, but many Geniuses flail around with crazy answers when confronted by anything more complicated than Bluetooth connectivity.

My Weather stopped working sometime last week and has not been woke up... News and others are working just fine.

All apps have stopped working for me in the UK. I used to use Alexa from the car to make changes at home. It was temperamental but worked most of the time. Now it doesn't work at all and I noticed this "no connection" on the other apps so guess it's related.

Holding volume for 30 seconds rebooted but made no difference.

I am having similar issues with my connected drive weather and other apps, they stopped working a few days ago ('19 M40i). What year vehicles do you have?
I am just speculating but maybe it could be related to the connected drive app no longer being a thing as its moving to the new "mybmw" app. Also, speculation is that most mobile providers are in process of eliminating 3G towers/service to make room for the new 5G service. I am not certain how these vehicles/features get there mobile data to run the apps but maybe this is part of the reason. Maybe these older models have 3G antennas and the newer models have 4G?? Anyone with a newer model year 20-22 having any issues like this ?

My 2019 also stopped working this week. I tried the radio button 30 second reset. Nothing. No news or weather. I really miss it. I did not think about the 3G or lack of being the issue? Seems like BMW should have someway to make it work again?

After buying my 2020 X3 (new) I experienced off and on again issues with the colored traffic levels on the map. The ones that display road congestion: green/orange/red. However this year it appears the issue has been mostly resolved. I was told the issue was with "the server" and not my cars software.

Perhaps your issues are also due to the "servers". ??

I have similar issues and just got off the phone with my dealer as I was going to ask for an iDrive software re flash and was told it's a BMW server issue messing up iDrive and hopefully they will fix it by end of the month. It's affecting some more than others. (I am in Canada)
