Last week I traded my car in (a 2013 328 N20) and moved up to a 2018 340 B58.

Has anyone else switched? At first glance sure the cars look the same minus the LCI changes but damn between the additional options I chose and the 3.0 I6 it's a completely different car. Startup, idle, power and overall driving experience is so smooth.

I loved loved loved the 328 from a mod project perspective but I should have bought the 340 to begin with :

Welcome to the B58 club! It is a great motor indeed. I am coming from a different platform but still a big switch for me.
The modding potential itself is also great on the B58 platform and would encourage you to look into it once and if you have an appetite.

5 yrs on a car is a good run especially for the 2013 328i.

Don't think about it too much, just enjoy the car.

No replacement for displacement!

I went from a 128i (N52) to the B58, power for daily street driving is clearly beyond legal necessity!

Unfortunately, the downside of having so much power on the street is that you can't drive it at its limits without having to worry about getting in trouble. Being able to push the N52 & driving it at 9/10th most of the time (not necessarily at high speeds) was half the fun of having a "lower" powered engine. I was also more aware of what was happening mechanically (chassis, suspension, etc.) seeing that I didn't have gobs of power to "wash it all out"...lol

Congrats on the new car!

Look at this way the 328i grounds expectations making the 340i feel special. Swapping from a 335D to a M140i then to a 340i doesn't have quite the same effect.

Enjoy your new bimmer.!
