Hey all. Might be a dumb question but I cant find the answer. My 2013 328i sport line has fog lights. On the driver side it has the fog light, a plastic cover, and an intake. But on the passenger side it has the fog light, a MISSING plastic cover, and an intake.

Having never previously noticed this, I thought it was broken, so I immediately ordered a new sport line passenger side fog cover that is closed.

Now I have discovered that many of us have the open fog cover on the passenger side and that it isn't broken.

My questions are WHY is it open on one side (oil cooler?), and also, if it's meant to be open, how did I just order a brand new one for my year, that is closed? What is the purpose of the closed one?

I have really tried to search this out and can't locate the answer.

I've put it down to air intake needed on that side of the engine.

Yes for sure. Wonder why there's a closed option for my same sport line model still though. I literally though it was broken lol.

My 335xi sport line is the same way, it's for cooling purposes but it is odd, giving the fact that a lot of people switch to the M body style bumper which is open on both sides.

It’s for cooling as others have posted. The m-sport just deletes the fog lights altogether for the same reason.

This is pre-LCI, I think post-LCI BMW got tired of the confusion and made both sides match.

Then I believe what I ordered must be post lci, but still compatible with my 13. I'll just sell it. Thanks all!
