X5 and X6 Steel Speaker Covers

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I didn't see any discussion about it already and wanted to get a few opinions from fellow owners.

Has anyone tried these out? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...3fcd4c4dRwVKeN

What are your thoughts? These are not the 'fake' Bowers and Wilkins covers. These are to be used with the HiFi or HK Sound system.

I have a black on black on carbon X6 and it's wayyyyyyyy too black inside. Thought about adding these to give it some character.

Let me know your thoughts. Would also be great to see pictures of these installed by anyone who actually bought them.

I've seen them but considering the fact that these are mounted with double sided tape, I'm almost 100% positive that fitment will be sh!t. At the very least they will protrude beyond all other surrounding trim/panels which is a big NO NO for me. Another thing to consider is the type of quality you'll be getting for $60...

Don't do it. Those are going to look like crap.

And, they will likely sag or fall off the first time it gets really hot outside.

And, they are just "stick-on" covers, not replacements. They will not fit correctly, and they will protrude out.

Good points for sure. I've purchased items in the past from Ali Express, and it's a hit or miss tbh. I ordered them prior to posting on the forum so I'll still do a short thread about them and post a video for anyone else who might be interested.

Just thinking of ways to add some color inside the cabin. The next item I'm considering is wrapping the dash from carbon fiber to a gloss wood trim.

I'll be wrapping it in wood vinyl. Going to grab some tomorrow and do it later in the week!

I'll post up photos and progress so others can see the result.

Just have to decide the type of finish and grain. Buying the original OEM trim is absurdly expensive so wrapping will be the go to!

Take before and after pictures for comparison sake.

Wait... you want to cover the carbon fibre trim? I think I’m going to cry. I’ve got wood in my X5 and would LOVE to have the cf. Oh well.

If you’re going to wrap it, why not consider a different colour cf wrap? Like silver or red?

I know it sounds absurd haha. If the carbon fibre didn't have a gloss finish, I'd be happy with it. But the cabin lacks colour inside and I love the wood trim on the black interior.

That said, I'm open to trying something else as well. Do you have any suggestions on what else I could wrap it with? A plain colour might be to bold and not fit well with the interior. Perhaps a texture of sort?

While the dash trim pieces might fit the center console (sliding door) will not. Different parts numbers on X5 and X6

Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone who might be looking into purchasing these. The quality is absolutely top notch but the let's are strictly for the g05 and don't for the x6 at all!

Well that's new to me as I always thought the X5 and X6 share the speaker covers (as they do with most other interior panels).

Can you post some pics of these metals covers. Would like to see how they look in non-vendor pics.

Here are some shots. I'll take more of the grills next to the speakers to show the size difference. Quality is great though. They feel cold and metallic.

No busier than the Burmester or B&W systems IMO. If I could remove the OEM Grills I may just spray paint them haha

Yeah it sucks that they don't fit, but oh well! Will probably sell the units to a fellow x5 owner.

Problem with these is they just do not stick at all. Edges pop off. Otherwise, quality is good but of course they have to stick and these dont.
