My G06 build date was 28tb June, expecting to take delivery in the UK on the 1st September.
I've read about new software which came out in July (with Android Auto) so my question is will my car be delivered with the new sw 07.2020 installed?
Do the techs upgrade as part of the PDI or should I call my dealer to ask that its upgraded?

Not sure about the UK but here most dealers do not upgrade as part of PDI. I would think if specifically asked they should do so.

My G06 Build date was also 28th June - I plan on asking my dealer to do the upgrade prior to pickup also.

Out of curiosity, what was your "Departed Plant" date (code 9000) ? - Mine was 8th July, so am assuming it got on either the FREEDOM or TOREADOR ships that were leaving Charleston at around 11th and 13th July respectively.

Both meant to arrive in Southampton a day apart 29th/30th July, and its been painful watching them stop at all European ports first before heading to Southampton on the way back to the US.

Tracking the ships has been quite the ride.....

My 2020 X7 has a June 27th build date. I took delivery on July 17th in the US. It came with software version 3/2020.xx. I asked the dealer to update the car to the July software for me prior to delivery, and they did. I now have software version 7/2020.25.

Thanks, thats good to know. My X6 is due at the Kent UK dealer w/c 2nd August (no idea when it left the plant..)
I'll call them again next week and mention the software, see what reaction I get...

my X5 was built in March but delivery was end of May due to covid. Came with 11/2019.55. A few days ago I got an OTA update to 11/2019.70. Haven't noticed any changes except remote 3D view now works (it didn't before) and some of the features I coded thru BimmerCode are gone and I need to do that again.

Our X5 was downloading (ie not installing) 11/2019.70 OTA last week, when suddenly at about 75% download the car lost all power steering, and threw up 5 error messages ranging from 4 wheel drive malfunction, driver assistance failure, restraint system failure and park assist failure. After I got the car home (you forget how heavy a 2 tonne car is to drive with no power steering - the car said you can continue to drive and luckily was not far from home) installed 11/2019.70 and had back power steering and all error messages gone. Phoned the dealer and they looked at it the next day, and confirmed it was something to do with the download process, something which they had never seen or heard of before now. Anyhow, to cut a long story short, they downloaded 07.2020 which I can confirm shows Android Auto. I'm also taking delivery of an X6 in September, so will be asking for it to have 07.2020 already installed too.

I don't believe it will. My car had a build date of July 10, 2020 and came with idrive 03.2020

I agree, unless I specifically ask them to upgrade it prior to handover. I really want Android Auto..
