340i Limp Home Mode

Was out for a drive earlier this evening, and had the car go into limp home mode. I was full throttle at the time, and had power cut out with a drivetrain malfunction. It was shaking on idle at the lights, but allowed me to drive on slowly.

I was low on fuel at the time, and I just had new spark plugs and ignition coils go in last week. Car is at 43k miles. It is also tuned Stage 1 OTS Bootmod3 and the transmission is Stage 3 xHP.

I powered down at a gas station, filled it up, and it drove home just fine, though the drivetrain malfunction notification came and went through the drive back. Went ahead and removed the tunes and took it for a drive without any issues, codes were cleared.

Anyone have any experience with something similar? I'm just out of warranty, and not sure if it's worth taking it in to the dealer or just monitoring it to see how it goes. Checked for codes, but couldn't decipher what I was looking at unfortunately. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Post the codes.

Perhaps drive the car around on stock tune for a bit, do some WOT pulls, etc. Confirm issue does not occur.

Then reflash stage 1 and see if the issue come back. If it does, first suspect would be something related to plugs and coils, but it coild be a coincidence. Without seeing the codes, we are all guessing.

Looks like all codes were cleared when I flashed back to stock tune, as I'm not seeing any on BimmerLink this morning. Been driving around today on stock no problem, will flash back to stage 1 later on and see if I have the same issue. Thanks!
