BMW M2 CS Review by Autocar UK
Hope it wasn't posted earlier, it is fairly new. I like the review but would have liked to see a bit more driving action

Thank you for posting, first review I've seen with a Hockenheim Silver CS in a video.
I'm really liking the CS M2 bonnet, unique design to the M2

Hmmmmm. Worrying.
"As it is, the new BMW M2 CS flirts with the strange classification of being an utterly brilliant disappointment." 4/5 Still feels like the car it is held up against most is the ..... M2C rather than any competitor and that's based on price comparison.

I think my main concern is the contradiction of the 6MT between the C and CS. Not sure how it's great in one and not the other. The CS is the C perfected to a point. I'm sure cost became a factor. Listen to all the current feedback. Imagine the cost to pull another 100 kilos.
You can equip with CCB and low weight battery to save another 40kg. Not sure if it's worth it. Doubt I could tell driving around town. The truth is that there isn't anything competing against it from another brand. It indeed competes against itself, which all agree is spectacular. Any thoughts on the 6MT argument. I'd be lying if I said it didn't have me concerned about ordering the CS in 6MT. I can always make the few small improvements to the shifter. Journalists have to choose a side. Taking a more contravercial stance and appeasing to the masses will keep the street cred alive. I don't particularly disagree with what they have stated, but I do think they spun it a bit more negative to appease the masses. If the M2 and m2C are spectacular, then so is the CS. Price wise it's in a segment where buyers are concerned about finances. I don't frequent car forums for $200k plus cars, but I wonder if the same is said about special versions or models with minor lightweight packages added? |

Clever BMW UK up to tricks again here too I think.
My local BMW dealer has literally 20 stock M2 builds dropped on them...right about the time of M2CS hero car review release. Review summary M2CS is better, great if you can afford it. Real value is in the M2C... ....oh look here's 20 Pre Reg M2C cars all at £47k. Joe Public, fill those coffers!!!

Doubt it, because those people would be clamoring for a "CS" version of their car, just so they can flip it for xx% more than the standard version a few years down the line with just 50 miles on the odo.

I can't exactly swing one but if I was in the market, I would see the value the unique pieces, in totality, attached to a soon-to-be a classic model.. Plus and probably most important, you can get one with a clutch. 80k is lot to most laymen's but remember, they are people out there that blow 80k on a fully-loaded M4. The same demo, looking for a unique M2 model, would be more than smitten for this package, with the means to execute it. And it will maintain its residual longer than a M2C, being a low production vehicle and all. |

Meh the EDC shocks from the M3/M4 are nothing special, can barely tell the difference from comfort to sport +. BMW just doesn't do adaptive shocks well. My MK7 GTI has a huge range from comfort to sport +, not sure why BMW can't get the shock tuning right.

Seemed pretty noticable in the back to back comparison that Achilles did. If I could notice it in the video, then it must feel even more significant. I don't doubt your observation that BMW doesn't do it as well as others.

Curious to see track times for the M2 CS vs the 2020 Supra, same driver back to back.
I highly doubt the M2 CS will wow a person that owned a M2 Comp before. Definitely I like the asthetics of the car and bonnet.

That's going to be expensive though, so leave off the fenders, hood, roof, trunk, spoiler that don't make much difference and get a lighter battery, seats, and maybe brakes. |
