So, anyone pop a DCT yet? (Or a chargepipe 😤)
I may have.
2017 with 30k. On my way to Tampa enjoying a nice stretch through the Ocala National Forest and downshifted to pass a slower car. Downshift was fine. I got into the gas pretty hard, and shifted into what I think was 6th at 6k or less. I always drive with the window open and as soon as I shifted, I heard a loud clank. It must have been loud to hear it over the engine, wind and stereo noise I didn’t lose speed or anything and all seemed ok until I slowed down to 20 or so and tried to accelerate. Ut oh. Really sluggish. Motor sounds fine. No lights. I’ll pull the obd2 codes but don’t expect to find anything there. It’s like the clutch(s} is slipping. I think it is. I’ll limp to Tampa and have an appointment t at Reeves BMW ON Wednesday. I’m fuming, but at least I’m at my favorite wing joint in Ocala. Curious if anyone has had a similar experience with this. I’m pissed. I love this car and this really caught me off guard. Pulled codes in the parking lot. A few DTC test not completed messages, (102001, 118002, 03178A), but that’s the traction control. I drive with that turned down: single hit on the button.

I got a check engine light on the last leg of my trip. I think I’m in limp mode. Rough idle. No power. Dealer on Wednesday.

I'd think this will be an easy fix at the dealer. It may be time for an aftermarket one. hopefully ok to drive 10 minutes to the dealer. hopefully nothing nasty got sucked into the engine, like sheds of chargepipe. Got great mileage, 27mpg, with the turbo effectively turned off.

I may have been hitting 80 or so. Nothing too nuts. It was pulling hard for sure.

Yep. I’ll let the dealer install another stock one. I’m at my sisters for a week or so and my brother in laws tools are pretty much an old pair of pliers and a wooden stick. Both dull.
I may look into one of these and install at the house.. I’ll figure it. https://x-ph.com/vr-speed-factory-vr...-m235-335-435/

There's some diy videos online on how to install it. Doesn't seem to hard but I had a shop do mine since I was doing a bunch of other upgrades at the same time. Good luck! |

Ain’t THAT the truth. I did breathe quite the sigh of relief when I saw it was something simple.
DetroitM2, yeah, saw a few on YouTube. Not hard just seems like one of those things where I’ll need 3 hands tat are like half the size of my current hands. Typical. If I could install my fabspeed sport cat, I’m sure I can pull this off. Called the dealer this morning and made sure they have the part in stock so they can turn the car around pretty quickly. Thanks all.

I did a Wagner EVOII IC and an AA charge pipe. This is what Mike at XPH recommended. Very happy with this set up.
One item to look for. The clip that holds the breather line to the CP is hard to take off. The part is brittle and will crack. If this happens you need a new one. So, be extra careful with this clip. |

Just a quick update. The dealer replaced the charge pipe under warranty on Wednesday. They also cleared a ton of codes that haven’t come back.
The car runs like it should again. It really sucked not being able to drive it. One weird thing. The paperwork I got from the dealer said I had no tread left on at least one Tire. That’s silly. These tires have like 5k miles on them and plenty of meat left. Wondering that since I replaced the tires via TireRack, the bmw service system assumed I was on original rubber @ 31k?
