Cracking Z4 deal...

https://www.john-clark.co.uk/bmw/new...SAAEgKYS_D_BwE

The finance stats on this are pretty good.

£10k off a £40k car

9.something excess mileage

3.9 APR makes it £zero deposit and £399.
Personally a little bit in and a low £300/month is a lovely deal. Test drove this engine and doesn't need much more.

Not sure I'd be fussed over the M40i. Plenty of reviews out there saying the 20i is as much fun as the other two.

I think your money is far better off in your MX5 Chris.

I like the Z4 but it would be great to see BMW make a lightweight MX5 competitor. I am convinced they would have a hit on their hands if done correctly.

Lightness and lower powered engines have to be the way forward now for driving enjoyment on our congested roads.

I test drove the 30i version last year which is the 2l 4cyl engine in a higher state of tune. Easily enough power for every day with a decent slug of torque and obviously with a lighter front end than the M40i. It was a short test drive but I liked it a lot.

It isn't. Trust me.

Good deal though. Normally I'd say 8k miles a year was neither use nor ornament. This year I might struggle to do half that!

Ok then, I'll ignore the reviews!

Like everything it depends how you would use it. If you want the ultimate in performance then no, but if you just want to potter around, have top down fun and be able to have the occasional fun drive on a country road I am sure it would be perfect...

I would. I'm not saying the 2.0i isn't fun but to suggest it's the same as the m40i just isn't true. Most of the reviews go on about how heavy the m40i is at the front. Maybe I drive too sensibly round corners but I really haven't noticed.

At roughly 2/3 the monthlies though, you could argue the 2.0 is more fun for your money.

Saying that the 40i is 499 with not huge deposits. Pretty good for a car faster around the Ring than the OG M2 that 'isn't even an M'

Not seen that deal but if you can get a 40i for 499 I'd say get in there. Whatever Phil Space says it's a hell of a car.

In fact I just chuckled on rereading a couple of the car mag reviews. Apparently the downside is it's too refined in comfort mode. Oh ok, next time I have a 5 hour drive I'll shove a couple of walnuts up my arse to make it less comfortable.
