Looking at the pictures of this crash yesterday on the M1 at J24, it's amazing to hear the driver walked away!

That about sums it up!

On the one hand I guess you could say it's a good advert for BMWs strength but actually I rather thinks it's just pot luck.

holly crap.

I saw one of those police TV show where this happened.

The car in-between was so badly crushed that the hgv driver didn't even know he'd crashed into the car and thought he'd crashed into the hgv in front.

I don't think the occupants were so lucky that time.

I never get between two HGV's if I can help it.

The fact the occupants walked away with minor injuries is testement to the safety of today's cars (obviously not all cars are the same).

I feel slightly safer driving my car now after seen that.

Remnants of an X5 M50d by the looks of things...a big old car reduced to very little

Totally agree with this, seen it may times on motorways, cars assume that because HGV's are so high up you can see the world....so not true, give them the room and respect they need to move these monsters around. They will stop on a sixpence but also rip through cars and smaller vehicles like the proverbial hot knife and butter.

The driver escaping a more serious injury is all that matters. Debt of gratitude is owed to every engineer working on this car.
