Voluntary Termination - Mini

Hi All,

After some advice from those who have experience in VT'ing a car on PCP.

Due to the impending arrival of our first child, my wife's Mini is no longer fit for purpose (!) and we are going to VT the PCP contract and buy a more suitable family car.

We have contacted Mini FS and we can VT now at no cost (mileage is well under the limit).

The service indicator has just come on and the car requires a brake fluid service. Will we need to get the service done before handing the car back? Or, will it be more beneficial to hand it back and incur a charge for the service, which may be less than getting the service carried out ourselves?

Thanks

First question - no service pack and if you have is the brake fluid not covered with it?

Second - if you cant get it in a pack, how much is it to have done?

No service pack. The brake fluid service is around £100.

We could get it done but ideally want to VT asap and getting the service done would delay this.

Typical that the indicator has popped up at this moment

It doesnt add it to the service record which they will check, and makes it look like you are pulling a fast one.

I'd VT as is and see if they pursue it. Admin will be as much as recovery so unlikely.

If the indicator has just come up, it will be yellow, so you have a month to get it done before it goes red.
If it's yellow on hand back, it's due but not overdue, so you may get away with it..

Agreed.

That is an absolute scumbag move to pull and is the reason I service any used car that ends up on my fleet as soon as it arrives regardless of what the service indicator's say.

Surely yellow is just warning? Have a look at the pricing on the vt faq... as the bmw service cost is less than you would pay.

Thanks guys.

Apparently it was yellow and my wife ignored it! She’s noticed it now it’s red, so it needs doing.

Check that if it needs to be done by mini or just has to be done - Halfords or Kwikfit will be significantly cheaper.

Don't ignore it, you'd not appreciate it if you got a car like that!
