Dyno

Anything special you need to do to dyno these vehicles other than turn off traction control?

Here are my notes from doing dyno runs. I don’t have time to expand at the moment, but some searching will find the info you seek.

-Find a Dynojet
-Have garage and under hood fans going to keep car cool
-Connect to bm3 to get logs, use laptop vs phone if easier
-Make sure AC is turned off
-Put car in dyno mode in the settings menu (Google it...)
-Use 4th gear for DCT
-Cool car between runs (ignition on, engine off)
-Do two dyno runs for each tune, one run on stock map

Thanks. I won't datalog as I don't have BM3. I do however have logs from 4th gear pulls using ECUTEC but no HP numbers.

The "dyno mode" is different than just turning traction control off? I'll hit the googlething.

OK, i found a video. Does putting your vehicle int o "start roller" mode show more HP than just turning traction off?

I think it might disable some the other traction control or abs checks that could limit power based on the front wheels being stationary.

Thanks, that makes sense. I'm going on the 28th. I'll practice getting it in and out of roller mode before going.

Of note, it’s easier to accomplish this if you’re in the passenger seat and guide the dyno tech thru the settings menu or reach over and do it yourself.

If you do it and then open the door to let the tech take over, the car will come out of dyno mode.

Well that didn't work out as planned. I had an appointment for Aug 28'th and we had a mandatory hurricane evacuation. I'll try again this month. I did figure out how to get it in dyno mode thanks to help from the above posts. Thanks guys.

One other item to add, make sure you take HVAC system out of Auto mode, as it will turn the AC back on as the ignition is cycled bn on/off if you’re doing runs on different maps.

I just made this mistake and it looks like it cost me 9whp. Annoying.

Dyno’ing or tracking these cars is like launching the damn space shuttle! Wait, there is no more space shuttle...
