I believe DME and RK are in your area. They are good options.

Just know that a flash is an insta-loss of your drivetrain warranty now. I am not saying that you should or should not care, but BMW no longer has to hunt. The new ISTA auto-flags, so it is no longer a question of "if" your drive train warranty is void.

I personally don't think we have much to worry about on this platform, but some do.

We really need someone to try and report back. Honestly, a piggy is your only way to keep a warranty for your drivetrain with the new ISTA.

I will be soon. Should have my '21 X5 M50i in about 4 weeks. Will install one after ome break in and give a full report.
I just traded a few posts with a guy on Rennlist who used a JB4 on a late model 4.4L tt V8, 5 series sedan and raved about it, said there was a big bump in power. Ya gotta figure 4 or 5 lbs of additional boost is going to kick ass on 93 octane.

If you do and it works well with EWG control, then I won’t be far behind.

Have you looked into it?

Hi

I have contacted DME and Velos. DME offers stage 2 ECU tuning for around 1800$ for 80-100hp gain. But you can get a raceship at 699$ for a 50hp and 100tq gain. Now; why pay almost 1000$ for a 30hp gain?

Just understand what you are talking about. Racechip is a simply boost controller. That doesn’t make it good or bad, but you need to understand nothing at all is modified in your DME tune. No timing adjustments, no fuel changes, and cannot monitor CAN data. A flash will adjust everything and optimize your tune for the boost they are running. The Racechip just increases boost.

The mega down side to flashes is the instavoid on your warranty now. With the most recent ISTA changes, you have no chance to retain power train warranty. You will be flagged and BMW will know.

It is all about what is important to you.

The BMS JB4 has a CAN bus connection thru the OBD port under the dash that provides their system with a sig amount of info. Not sure how superior this is to the Racechip.

We need someone to test it and report back. That is the only way I see to retain warranty and gain a lot of power. We need to know does it throw CEL? We need to see logs and timing.

I feel like this is the golden goose if it works well on our platform.

Please let us know how the JB4 works for you as soon as possible, Spasibo!
