Red face What Is The Point Of Having A GT-R?

yes it's a bad ass car and all but the more i keep reading on it from the possible false ring time to the black box and warranty issues what is nissan trying to do? just put an amazing car on the market and limit it's ability? i just don't get it.

also another funy thing that is getting to me is the launch control situation. people say using the launch control will void warranty? what is the absolute bottom line to this?

b/c the e46 m3 launch control is limited to 3 times in europe before engine warranty is void (3350-3500rpm launch). now US law states a car manufacturer can't give us a function that is limited. so bmw lowered the rpm launch on US cars to 1800-1850 and we can use it unlimited times and still have warranty in tact. even the new m3 has launch control at 5500rpm (and adjustable) and we can use that unlimited times and still have warranty in tact.

so what is really the beef with the gt-r? nissan can't expect people to hop on their future gt-r v-spec with the limitations do they? yes the cars are selling and there is a wait list but seriously wtf

It is a fast ugly car. I don't see a stampede for it in this economy.

The M3/5/6, AMG sales are all sucking.

The GTR will go as quickly as it came. There is no market for fast ugly cars as far as I know.

I agree...................the car is fast and all, but it sure is no good looking machine like the E92 M3................the interior of the GTR looks like a video arcade with buttons and gadget everywhere...............

You should know there is a market for ugly cars. You have a X6. That is one of the ugliest cars Bmw has ever made. To some people X6 and the GTR are hot and to some they are not. I like the GTR. The inside could be better but Its not the worst.

Totally agree w/chuck above - GTR is a very fugly, immature looking car at best. And I love the looks of the X6 - may be my next car!!!

I agree with you 110% but the looks of the GTR are completely subjective. There are people out there that believe the GTR is a better looking car then the M3, M5 and M6. I am not one of them. There are not many cars that can hold up to the fluent lines of the M5, its gorgeous, elegant (NO HOMO) and most importantly it's tastefully done. The GTR doesn't come off as a car that is stylish, or graceful. Sure it has enough tech to keep Bill Gates occupied for hours but it doesn't come off as a refined, polished, dignified, automobile.

I'm sure the simplicity and ~200MPH top speed are appealing to a certain demographic but Nissan is going up against company's like BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes who own a monopoly on the "luxury sport car" niche. Nissan GTR FTL.

I like the GTR, but a car needs to be more than be fast, it needs to be fun to drive, which involves engaging the driver. Strikes me that other cars do a better job of that.

sorry was referring to the limits of the launch control and how often it can be used, and how you cant drive the car the way its meant to be driven or your warranty gets voided

Ugly as an insult to car is overly abused. Please give some serious thought and consideration before knocking on a car. Look, if the car is ugly then sure, but GTR isn't and it looks great in person. Calling it ugly sounds ignorant. Sounds almost as ignorant as "Hey he's lazy because he's <insert some race>." I can't believe how many thread's responses are "ugly" and that's it. Okay it's ugly. Give us more qualifications and please don't give generic answers like "lines don't flow", or insert a random picture of a japanese/korean car that requires an overactive imagination to see the similarities. I like to learn new ideas from this forum. I can probably copy and paste the word "ugly" as a response to any thread and people would be, "oh yea that sounds about right."

As for it will go out as soon as it arrived. Doubt it... let us revisit this thread in an year.
