Dealer won't mount brand new tires from tirerack?

Is this a new thing/ true for all dealers? For liability purposes, they won't mount and balance any new tire not purchased directly from them. I have been doing this forever.

Where do you guys go to get your runflats swapped out?

tirerack has a list of installers nationwide - typically you have the tires shipped to the installer - but I'm sure any of them on your local list would be happy to accommodate you

At any installer recommended by Tire Rack? Why go to the dealer for tires?

Most likely that dealer wont from a liability stand point yes. Not something we see a lot of on our end either though. Most people get tires mounted at tire shop but we do mount tires but 98% of the time they are sold from us.

Not a lot of places around here that can take off runflats. I always figured it was just easier to have the dealer do it so i dont have to worry about proper torque specifications, etc. Should i not worry about it and just take it to costco?

I wouldn't worry about it. You can go almost anywhere. There are even mobile tire installers who will come to your driveway and install them there (they bring a tire mounting machine in a van).

Dealer charge would be off the charts expensive for just mounting and balancing tires. I plan to swap out for non-run flats as soon as I get my car but the nearby NTB is a Tire Rack preferred installer.

Unfortunately the dealer doesn't want to accept liability. It just isn't worth them facing any grief for a simple tire installation fee.

Any tire installer should be able to handle RF tires. Even equipment that isn't designed for them can complete the job so long as the operator knows what they are doing.
