Wow!
If you ever get your locking wheel nut key stuck on your wheels, damage the head or any wheel bolts removed, this guy is great: https://www.lockingwheelnutsremoved.com He is based in Wokingham but is mobile and covers pretty much most of the South of the UK. |

About 10-11 years ago I had a locking wheel bolt that stripped the head once, leaving a mangled mess.
The tyre shop had used an impact driver to do them all up and it shredded the locking bolt to pieces. Tried everything, took it to 10 different garages, had the AA out, got a friend who worked with titanium jet engine turbine blades to use a couple of their one-piece-crystal carbide drill bits (they fell into his pocket on the way out of work). We even welded a socket onto it to try crack it off. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, would get it off. Everybody we spoke to was utterly convinced they could get it off. So I said I'd give them £100 if they could but if they couldn't I wouldn't pay them for their time. They were all cocky and said I'll get that off in less than 10 minutes. Never managed it. In the end I bought a replacement alloy wheel off ebay and we had to use an angle grinder and cut the whole wheel off. Trust me when I say it was the ONLY way to get it off. Sometimes those special tools are good. Sometimes they just will not do it.

Good grief, that sounds extreme! I remember taking a set of adjustable camber arms to a garage they tried and tried to loosen the bolt and couldn't do it. They used a breaker bar with the arm in a vice and still didn't manage. I then asked them if they noticed one of the arms had a reverse thread |

Digressing somewhat but I was trying to remove my look pedal from my expensive dura ace crank arm.
Took one off no problem. The other was stuck so I used all my strength and ample weight ended up cracking the thread a bit. Got my dad to get some home improvements style 'more power' and drill out. But pedals spindles are hardened steel... and crank arm is expensive and soft. Bought a new crank set for 350 quid! Then I remember it had a reverse thread of course it has to as pedalling could loosen it. |
