Early leak of M3/4 official pictures
https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/n...ghts-unveiling
So I reckon: - The M3 looks better than the M4; - I really quite like that green in the M3; and - On the M3, in that colour, I’m surprisingly unoffended by that grille |

M3 always has looked better to me than the M4. Love the flared arches on the outgoing M3.
Grills - not sure, I'd have to see one the flesh to make a better judgement |

There's been so many spoilers and spy shots it's hardly a surprise now.
For the record I like it. I think the M4 in particular looks great, very purposeful and modern. Frankly I'm bored of the negative comments and comments such as 'BMW haven't made a proper car since the E46/E39' etc etc. Times change. Design changes. If you don't like it don't buy one. Doesn't get any easier. Just my tuppence worth. |

That front end is horrific. Utterly terrible.
And to think that BMW produced beauties - that, testament to good design, still look good today - such as the E46 coupe...

Isle of Man green is going to be popular. Shame the M3 wide hips seem to be tamed somewhat now. |

Definitely not for me. I think the colours are a bit too "crayon" too. What are they called, Canary Yellow and Christmas Green? This generation's M3 sponsored by Crayola.
I do think that a fully murdered out M3 might be able to pull off the grille. I've found the latest 3 series looks good that way as well. I bet it drives amazing regardless. Extremely curious to know what the I4 will look like now. |

It had been floated so much to reduce the shock I'm actually pleasantly surprised. I think it will look alot better in real life with real life photos and not computer enhanced ones, plus not from a 6 inch high camera angle which makes the grille look even worse.
Certainly a bit of a mess up front style wise but hopefully the lci will tidy that up, the rear looks great though and bet its a beast to drive. |

No No, it crosses my mind. Feels like it might be a good car to look at LCI wise perhaps. Just being from IoM I can see an IoM Green something in the garage one day. Taking my time to see if I like this generation, dont love it like I did the last one I have to say. I remember all the razamatazz about the CF drivehshaftm weight saving, CF boot, the S55 details,
I'm not sure there can be any surprises this time. Also the mpg looks to have dipped a fair bit too, 26 UK average and I'm sure last gen was rated 31 officially. No one buys it for that but that getting into sub 300 mile tanks maybe too. Anyway lots to assess first and just a little fun the car name in my profile |

It's just a bit weird in my eyes. M cars always have and should always be a beefed up version of the standard car. That M3 isn't. It's a different car.

Still a no from me - but need to reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh as all the photos to date have been poor. Certainly not feeling like I will ever order one & just glad I got one of the last F80s - think I'll be keeping that for a lot longer than my original plan (until the grille issue was known I was expecting to get a G80). Mind you that is no bad thing as that will then mean I can justify jumping to a 992 Carrera S. I know we tend to hate change and grow to like cars over time but I'm just not sure with this one. Plus I suspect it will be at quite a price premium over the outgoing models and I'm guessing no significant discounts in sight for a long time due to production limitations and then Brexit impacts. This coupled with the general dislike voiced by most of the M community all adds up to huge depreciation even by normal M standards so you'd need to like it a lot to pay for it. I think people traditionally in the market for one will either turn to an M5 if they want 4 doors with speed and luxury or an M2 CS if they want something more in keeping with traditional M values - until they go do the same to those cars of course...
