Car Seats again - recommendations for 4 plus

Hi all, its time for the eldest grandson to move up to the next car seat so 4 plus - and its a Gramps' prerogative to offer to pay so any recommendations for the best choice. Ideally it will work in a G21 or a Merc GLC or potentially anything else as they seem to swap regularly (maybe a Tiguan incoming..) and ideally if it was reasonably slim then there would be room for a 5th person on middle seat and I would not have to drive when we all go out together!

I think Cybex was mentioned but mainly because that is what they have now...

We went for Maxi Cosi Rodifix:

Ifix, so doesn't move around when empty. Nice and light and very easy to move between cars, mostly because the top anchor is gone at this age.

Room in the middle of the 5 series for an adult between this and a huge Axissfix rotating job for the toddler.

Thanks, sounds promising...

When my lad moved up to this sized seat we went for the Rodi Air Protect, which I think is the same as the one above but just doesn't use isofix.

Like above, it's lightweight, easy to take in and out and all in all I've got no complaints, he's been using it for a couple of years now. I don't think it takes up anymore room than a regular adult sat in the seat really and I've not had any issues with it moving around. I debated isofix or not at the time, think it's just personal preference. I always had isofix for the seats when he was younger but wasn't convinced it was necessary anymore.

Yep, isofix definitely not needed, and have used it without when isofix wasn't available. Just thought it'd be a bit more secure when empty, maybe it's not an issue.

I think one that can isofix but can be used without would be perfect - isofix in the normal home but seatbelt secure if temporarily in my car for example...

No one else at the 4 plus stage to offer suggestions?

I got this last year for my 4 series for my son.

Britax Römer DISCOVERY SL Group 2-3 (15-36kg) Car Seat - Cosmos Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01G1G8J..._.5wCFbDYNVDAM

I paid £40 ish and cant complain - and its isofix too, or can be used without as the progs dont stick out - like like individual seat belts buckles.

We’ve got a Britax Kidfix with the additional side protection, solid bit of kit. I’ve a recaro Monza in mine which is ok but not as well built as the britax, but it’s only used occasionally.

We had cybex for both ours as the way the seats expand in height and width makes it really comfortable for the kids as they grow. Eldest is now out of it but it's lasted her from 5 to 10 years old and now been donated to my niece so it's shrunk back down to the smallest setting and will grow again with her.

We use the Recaro Monza with isofix. Really light durable and also has built in speakers

Not sure if helpful, but we got this seat for my son when my daughter was born. It's meant to last them up to 12 years and he's 4 come his next birthday.

This maybe more suited if you need to cater for smaller children. It 4+ is now your youngest passenger, you'd probably get away with one of the simpler seats mentioned above. There's also a version without Isofix which just belts in.

Thanks - there is a younger one but they have all the car seats they need for him - when they move the 4 year old into a new one. Think simple and smaller fits the bill this time...
