Fibre optic loop problem, usb & bluetooth not working

Hi, I have searched the forum & not found the answers i'm looking for, I would appreciate any advice

I Drive a UK E91 08 pre face,

it has the 'professional' unit (non i drive) & the factory option for USB listed under vin lookup.

the options are listed for USB on the stereo (insert usb)

I am trying to find the fault within the fibre optics which is causing my Bluetooth and USB to not work. I purchased the car used and these have never worked. I understand the previous owner had put his own stereo in and swapped it back before selling to me. Everything else seems to work, including chimes for parking sensors. I have checked all the fuses & have pulled the fibre optic plugs out of the mulf2 and other unit next to it and no red light can be seen. also no light on the cd changer wiring plug. (don't have changer), or the little port on the bottom of glovebox. I might be doing something wrong though & perhaps i've missed a unit on the loop.

My questions - I read that you have to reset the 'most bus'. not sure where to find it? and at what point do you reset it?

What is the order of the fibre optics? i.e stereo>amp>mulf>stereo?

Any other pointers would be great.

Many thanks.

He may have programmed those modules out to bypass the error messages.
To be able to get handle on this you need to buy at least a K/D can cable an
download and setup the Standard Tools (Inpa suite and Ista D).
I would also check all most connections at all modules and the Most test point
under the dash.

There is no order to the most bus it's a ring everything just needs to be setup .
That being said the Head unit is like a server.
Only modules that are installed are part of the active Most Loop and are added
to the loop at the Most Hub.

You should l have light at least that the Test Point you mentioned.
That is the first point past the Head Unit which should be the source
maybe the firber optic is not plugged in at the Head Unit. That is what I would
check first.

Thank you for the detailed reply.
I see your name come up a lot when searching through posts & you are always very helpful.
In regards to the the most connections, as there is no light i'll check every part of it, headunit to start and if no joy then i'll download the set of tools given in the link. Is there something else to check in the glovebox besides the connector at the bottom?

Thanks again,
Matt

IN the early models in the US the most connection was on the steering wheel
underside panel of course the steering wheel was on the opposite side here.

Most test point

Thanks, No red light at the back of the stereo optics although there was a few weeks back. I'll have to get the cable and software and have a look with that

Make sure the Fiber optic is plugged into the back of the Radio Main connector.
When people install aftermarket Radio's they sometime take the connector out.

https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...4#post23244354

Go to this link entry 1 and look at the pictures of the connector is shows where the Two fiberoptic lines plug into the main connector .

Later it shows then taking it out to install this box .
Which is actually pretty good for the bucks I have one.
