Zaino and a ZR-1 w/pics

My Dad went out of town for the weekend and was kind enough to let me babysit his car while he was away. It only had 70 miles on it when I picked it up so I couldn't drive it to hard, but I still enjoyed it a lot. I'm very particular about breaking cars in correct so it was well taken care of. I am very impressed with it's manners around town. The clutch is absolutely amazing. I've driven a lot of dual and triple plate clutches and this one didn't seem to have any of the quirks normally associated with multiple plates.

The transmission also seemed to shift much better than his C6 Z06 which always felt a little vague and unnecessarily heavy to me. The one thing I was most anxious to experience is the better feedback from the steering wheel that all 09's were to have. It seems to be a little better but not quite a night and day improvement. I'll know much more once we go to the track and it's fully broken in. I have a feeling at the limit of adhesion is when it'll be noticed the most. I just didn't get that confidence inspiring sense of urgency and directness that I do from a Porsche or BMW.

Now back on track, the ride of this thing is ridiculous. I cannot believe you can have that much grip and such a nice comfortable ride all in one car. This was my first time driving a car with magnetic shocks, and I'm a believer now. This thing rides better than my 335i, no joke. It's time to start saving, I want one of these cars and I'll gladly drive it everyday.

On to the detailing. I did the pretty typical Zaino treatment. Dawn wash, clay bar, and then another dawn wash. Two coats of Z-5, three coats of Z-2 with a quick spray of Z-6 in between coats. I also treated the leather with Z-10 which I have to say is some pretty amazing stuff. It goes on nice and easy, has a very pleasant leather smell, and isn't greasy feeling at all. I then used Z-16 on the tires, which is the best tire glaze I've ever experienced. Applied with a small sponge it's not messy at all and there's no silicone.

Wow man that's awesome.

Tell him to change the wheels. If there's one thing I'd change, it's the wheels. It needs to have 5 spokers.

For factory wheels they are pretty good, but I agree some new wheels would show off the carbon brakes much better. I'm just happy I talked him out of the chrome wheels, they don't look right on this car.

Yo op, congrats to you and your dad on the ZR1....it's a pretty awesome car.....And is the colour cyber gray metallic??....I love that colour...I'm sure it's available on the 09' Zo6 now....So Inshalla, that will be the colour combo I will go with when I go in for a Z06

+1....But I wouldn't mind them that much....it's not bad but your 5 spoke idea sounds betta....like the op said, better view of the brakes will look way cooler....

Thankyou for saving this from the chrome fate.

I still think Vettes in general are required to have 5 spokers or CSL style multispoke wheels (like the C6R).

Garage List
Would've picked a more intense color. It's probably insane to drive, but the color's boring.

Yes, it's his daily driver

About the chrome wheels, I personally don't like them on any car. It's a pretty heated debate over on the vette boards whether or not they look good, but I think it just ruins the car. Thanks for all the compliments so far. I think I must be getting old because my back and arms are killing me today after spending so much time polishing it.

The pictures don't really do it any justice. There is so much blue flake in the paint it looks amazing in person. A major deciding factor in color was all the blue the car has on it. The emblems, calipers, and intercooler are all blue. The only colors this matches well is black, blue, and the grey he has.
