Throttle Response Questions

Guys my car pulls like a greek god once the throttle gets open, but I have to absolutely mash the accelerator pedal to get it to respond. Its like there is no middle ground between 25 percent throttle and 90 percent throttle...it just lags and chugs until you basically floor it. Around town its hard to drive this way with basically two throttle settings- on or off.

Could this be an issue with the tune?

Is there a way to fix this with a tune?

Could it just be an actual issue with an oem part?

How can I troubleshoot or tune something like this?

Thanks

when you manually shift at around 3500-4000 rpm in each gear does it still lag ?

Not really I have always found the car to be very fast but unresponsive.

I guess I could try flashing back to stock map today and see if its still challenged. I can also try to stage 0+ map to compare that too.

It does make a thud and bumping sound sometimes on hard shifts but I will have to double check the rpm.

My instincts say it could actually be 3500-4000 because it always happens when I get on the throttle hard but shift way before redline. Could probably be close to 4000 rpm.

Before you start tearing into things, have you tried the throttle adaptation reset?

This could be totally plausible because in dc traffic I used to drive like a granny for 3 hours a day goosing the throttle in eco mode.

If it has machine learning for driving style I would have taught it all the wrong things!

I had the same kind of deal from driving in Seattle traffic. Came up a lot more once the roads cleared out, so I tried this and it made a huge difference.

Curious to see if it helps yours, though mine was stock at the time.

Glad I stumbled on this thread. Mine has felt a little sluggish on the throttle lately, so I did the reset and it's back to life again! I would not have believed this had I not tried it.

Another case of the engineers really over engineering us out of our cars! Its a great idea conceptually, but I feel like in real life this feature is a net negative.

Agreed, it's really pretty stupid. Just make the driver adjust to a very responsive throttle. Don't we buy these for such response?? Come on BMW!

Yeah I didn't buy a 360hp turbo charged coupe because I wanted a dead pedal lol Conflict of interest there.
