[RS61]

I'm in the UK and currently have a 720bhp MTM C7 RS6 as my daily driver. I pay £1,500 for my insurance through Admiral with mods declared.

I was about to switch to an F90 Comp, but ran the insurance and got a quote of £5k without any mods. Went and verified through all the price comparison sites, and sure enough that's what everyone is quoting.

A few years ago I had a Huracan Spyder, and didn't pay anywhere near as much, with several fewer years of no claims bonus, so it didn't feel right, and I checked out what I'd be paying today for a £200k Huracan Spyder. It would be £2,500 according to the comparison sites - no other changes to the details, other than changing the car.

So based on this it appears that a £60k F90 M5 is twice as risky as a £200k Lambo.

Is this just a known thing? Anyone else face this issue? Am I missing something?

That's insane! There must have been a recent spat of thefts or wrote offs. Kudos to you for checking first, are you on order anyway or is this change your mind.

I mean my M5 is over double my X5 50i. I thought that was a bit much considering their sticker price only differs by $20k.

My insurance is $2,882 per year for my 2020 M5 Comp and a 2012 Merc S63 AMG. Travelers.

Luckily I'm just checking for second hand ones on Autotrader, rather than waiting for a new one. Found a perfect 2020 one with 20% off and got excited but then saw the insurance

I'll never quite understand it, once moved from M4 to 335d and insurance jumped about 40%

Wow, thats a great deal. Is it a Comp or Base and the 20% is pre-incentive I assume? I would love to find a deal like this next year on a 21 or I may just look at CPO cars.

Does seem weird, I pay £1k for an rs6 (north of 100k) I also had an M5 before and that was £800 - I would say its your postcode, I used to live Peckham way and it was literally impossible to get insured!

A lot of insurance based on HP of vehicle in addition to claims experience, not so much just cost.
