Eh, not much change, imho. I think speed-wise, it will be competitive to a stock 335i (given the fact that it now has the new 3.7L VQ engine from the G37 but is much lighter) and a tuned 335i will still kill it though.

Good:

- Front bumper looks great so far.
- Window shape looks great.
- Nice wide arches.
- Close to original design which was perfect.

Bad:

- It looks awkwardly shorter than the current model. Hard to explain. It looks squashed.
- Rear lights. Very fussy looking.

Unsure:

- Original headlights were perfect. These dont actually look bad but I dont know if I like them yet. Hmm...

Overall, I cant wait to see official pics. It shouldnt be too bad, maybe even tasteful, but I dont know if it'll be able to top the 350Z design.

The new 3.7 engine from the G37 Coupe should be interesting though! Nissan say they are aiming at the Cayman and obviously TT and next Z4. If it drives great I'd take it over all of them. In terms of design it's already ahead of the Cayman and TT. Though this new TT-R is looking hot and we aint really seen the new Z4 yet!

This car is going to be a lot more performance oriented that the last 350Z. Weighing close to 3,000lbs and having 330hp, it's going to give a lot of car problems. Nissan stated that the benchmark for this car is the Porsche Cayman. Nissan's GTR destroyed its benchmark of the 911 Turbo so I expect the same with this car. Just as long as it's not a M3 beater, I will be ok with it and if it is, that just means BMW is going to have to make an even better M3 next time. Competition is a good thing.

This new shortened version reminds me more of the original 240Z.

So it has a kink in the headlights and taillights? Doesn't look too good and it seems like it shares the GTRs sloping roof but without a full trunk it looks awkward.

cant wait for this to come out. this is more competition for the Z4 than 335i as the Z4 and 350Z are true(er) sports cars. this 370Z should be even better. it looks the part, those fender flares are hiding much wider track than the 350Z.

Yeah it does! Infact it makes you appreciate the design a little more.

I love it. The last one was nice, it just didn't look mean enough. This one does... GTR style. I think I just found my next toy.

I think it looks great. Sticks to the original lines, but a nice progression. The taillights are the only part that needs some fixing.

Also, the headlight execution is much better then on the new Maxima.

Put a TT kit on a VQ engine and you'll be in different zip codes real quick.

Since we're comparing aftermarket mods and all...

I agree competition is definitely a good thing for us consumers. However, notice they said that they're aiming for the Porche Cayman (and not the Cayman S) and Audi TT (and not the TT-R)? If they're not trying to compete with the higher performance versions of these cars, then what's the big deal with the new 370Z? Now, maybe I misunderstood (and the 370Z performance numbers will equal or better a Cayman S and TT-R), but if it's the base model they're going after, then, I just don't think that it will be all that impressive.

And, btw, my first car I ever drove (and yes, I am dating myself quite a bit ) was a Nissan 280ZX, and I've driven 2 Infiniti's as well (FX35 and G35 Sedan) and loved them ALL!

True, but a TT kit on a VQ engine costs > $6k. Not many ppl do this.

True, but when you consider how much it costs to put a kit on a German car, you're looking at a price thats less than half the cost, yet able to take out a modded Z06(lightly).

Hell, Horsepowerfreaks stage 1 kit for the E46 M3 costs $15k plus labor and shipping...ouch.

A TT kit comes "free" on a 335i. I think we've proven that you don't need an F/I turbo system running at > 20psi to make >400BHP/400 lb.-ft. TQ; e.g. a PROcede v3 335i or JB3 335i works quite nicely.
