Composite video input on NBT

My goal is to connect an composite video input source to a NBT in my 435i.

From different forums and talks, I did the following already:

- VO Code 601, which enabled TV menu.
- Connected Composite cable to pin 21 & 24 (FBAS trsvc) on NBT harnes
- Connected HDMI-2-AV converter to cable, with a chromecast connected

What I expected is that I would find an option in e-sys where I could tell the TV menu to use FBAS pin 21 & 24 (trsvc) as input. However the only relevant options I can found are:

TVM_VARIANTEN (kein_tvm or tvm_verbaut)
TV (wert_4, wert_15, wert_41, wert_44, wert_255, wert_48)

I tried all combinations, but no display in the TV menu

What I think is suspecion, is the TV menu has an option to "search for channels". But ofcours, I have no TV module installed (don't want to).

Curious if someone has experience with connecting composite video input source to FBAS on NBT?

Thanks!

I have this in my car with an Amazon fire stick connected. You could always get a composit to HDMI cable?

Did you ever find a solution to this? I want to do the same thing using the composite output of a Raspberry Pi.

Hey, I know this thread is little old. Did you manage to get it working?

I did done some research.
There are two versions of NBT, one has quadlock only, another one has an extra connector(FBAS signals) for DVD and TV.

There are two FBAS signals from NBT quadlock:
21&24 for TRSVC(reverse or surround-view camera)
27&28 for BASEPLATE(snap-in adapter under armrest)

There are analog FBAS for BASEPLATE(snap-in) because old Apple 30-Pin connector uses analog signal to transfer videos when using BASEPLATE(snap-in).

Have you tried 27&28?

Just found this video on Youtube:

It's about NBT retrofit to E-series vehicles with eNBT module.
It seems like this eNBT module is able to display content to the NBT. I highly doubt this is accomplished by composite input.
Also, his method of displaying video seems like Night Vision instead of TV.
Youtube video of Night Vision on NBT:

Youtube video of Night Vision button:

The UI looks exactly like it.
My guess is the eNBT module will send signal to Kcan to simulate the press of Night Vision button, then sends composite signal to NBT.

Update:

I'm able to toggle the Night Vision Page.
Achieved by sending 21E(00 00 00 00 00 00 02) to K-can2(under iDrive controller knob). If last bit changes, the page turns off.

Now waiting for the composite video adapter.

Currently coded NBT:
GATEWAYTABLE: table_0 (table_0 supports nivi)
NVC: wert_42
MACRO_NV_C: aktiv
MACRO_NIVICAM_LDISCLAIMER: kein_ld

I just received the composite adapter but couldn't get it to display.

My suspicion is it needs additional frame to the NBT through K-Can2(0x2E2?) since the UI has a background image still. If you look closely in the Youtube video, when they activate the night vision camera, the background goes black when video displays.

Does anybody want to share any documents for night vision?

Also, anybody know what are frames sent to the NBT when reverse camera(TRSVC) activates.

Little update:

Still unable to figure out the frame to display true video on NIVI page, only able to activate the page.

However, it's possible to test the video input through Tool32.
Demo:
https://youtube.com/shorts/z_3SjAhaAXk?feature=share

steuern_routine > ARG;videoverbindung;STR;2;0;255

2 stands for 0x02 NIVI(picture below). 255 stands for time displayed(0-255).

My current coding:
NVC: wert_41
MACRO_NV_C: aktiv
MACRO_NIVICAM_LDISCLAIMER: kein_ld

FBAS input using pin 21(+) and pin 24(-).

I'm still trying to achieve display under NIVI page so I can stream audio(AUX/Bluetooth) and video at the same time. TV uses MOST as an audio input source, it will be little more complicated.

If we only want to achieve composite input, this is one way, a not so fancy way.
