The Escalade has never done anything for me. It's too big and gaudy. That front is ugly and the rear is too square.

There are other SUV's I would consider but the Escalade is not one of them. It's a big truck with bling and NOT very attractive IMO. But if you want to drive around in a behemoth, have at it.

If you want 6 adults in something you really don't have much of a choice. It's either the big body truck from GM or Ford or a Minivan (ughh). The X7 drives better without a doubt, but if it doesn't serve it's purpose (for me) it doesn't make sense. So I have a 2021 ESV on order and it will be replacing my 2020 X7 m50i. I also hate the fact that the rear captains don't fold in the X7 it's one of the stupidest designs I have ever experienced in a vehicle like this.

We discussed this before. The Escalade demographic is not BMW,MB,etc... Think more Infinity and Lincoln. Build quality and the materials in the Escalade is appalling. You don’t have to look too deep in the Cadilac to see it’s GM cheapness. The plastic sliding second row seats say it all and leather quality is low/mid grade. The engines even in top trim are under powered. Seriously their top 6.2L V8 can only output 420hp?? It’s typical Chevy. If you need to go domestic and save some cash might as well get a Durango SRT. At least you would have a 3 row with a respectable engine output. The old Escalade reputations of the rap videos in 2000 carried it a long way but the full size luxury SUV market is a different more upmarket international world now.

Escalade might be a considerable choice if you have only adults to haul.
This doesn't apply when having kids with car seats.

1) third rows don't have isofix points.
2) second row seat back doesn't incline enough to support all types of car seats.

The rest are details of luxury, stability and power.

Other than price, there is nothing similar about these two vehicles, they aren't even in the same size class. Comparing a body on frame to a unibody is just moronic. I suppose these videos get hits, but is anyone actually cross shopping these two?

For the record I'm a big fan of the escalades. Quality and drive has really come a long long way, but it doesn't work to think about it in the same category as the X7.

I'm cross shopping the two vehicles. I want a large SUV but I think I would have a hard time buying the Caddy, for all the reasons posted above. If I were to go that route I think I'd save $ and just buy a Tahoe. X7 @ $91k, Suburban $84k, Caddy $96. With such close MSRP's it'd be hard not to buy the X7 though....and try to make space work out.

I'm not sure what size adults are in your family. The adults in my family range from 5'4" to 6' tall and all have ridden in the 3rd row without issues. I often have 6 or 7 people in my X7. Move the 2nd row forward a couple of inches and everyone in the 2nd and 3rd row has plenty of space.

I'm 5'11" and sat in the 3rd row a few times, didn't feel uncomfortable back there at all.

I've rented a few Tahoe, Suburban, Expedition and Armada's before buying the X7, and I would say the 3rd row in those are not any more comfortable than the X7, in fact they are less comfortable/roomy.

They do sell an impressive numbers of Escalades, but all I see is this. I would never ever buy a Cadillac. But it's your hard earned money, buy what you like and ignore what me or anyone else thinks.

the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe features a massive 10.1-inch increase in third-row legroom, up to 34.9 inches compared to the 24.8 inches offered by the previous generation.

Other notable interior space increases include an extra 1.45 inches in first-row shoulder room, and an extra 10.2 cubic-feet of cargo space behind the third row.

IMO, this was lacking in every rental I had. Such a large vehicle with awful utilization of space.

I went through exactly the same exercise with a family of 6. Ended up with an X7 (obviously) even though it was tighter on space.

When a base Tahoe could've been had for under 40k and was fairly reliable it was a decent value proposition. However at 80k+, other than more space and better towing, there's nothing going for it anymore. The interior/build quality is appalling and with all the tech GM has been putting in these they're definitely not getting any more reliable (my lemon 2019 Silverado trail boss is proof of that).

If I was spending 80k+ I'd have a hard time justifying any of the GM (or even Ford/Lincoln) offerings.

Part of the problem is you guys are comparing to older generation GM vehicles. All the 2021 have been completely redesigned, they have independent rear suspension for the first time and they are "significantly" bigger than the X7 even the standard wheelbase tahoe/yukon/escalade is huge compared to the X7 and the extended ones have an insane amount of room for 7-8 adults and all their luggage for a road trip. I couldn't fit 5 people and luggage in the X7 this past summer. So for me it makes sense, I daily an M8 gran coupe, so it really is just a family people hauler and the X7 falls short in that category if the people actually have "stuff" to bring with them

Drove the new Yukon when deciding between Denali, x5, and x7. All could be the right choice for a person. All have some pros/cons. The gm vehicle is just huge inside and out....I don't need that much space, so ruled it out. Still a cool mode of transportation, though. X7 was great too. Ended up with x5, solely due to size. I need nothing bigger. If wanted something slightly larger, would go x7. If wanted something ginormous, would go Denali.

Spot on. Everyone is comparing the older versions.

I have had a X7 and I currently have the new Escalade. The new Escalade is an incredible vehicle and is a universe apart from the older version.
