Question about CPO: Looking to buy an E46

I'm looking to buy an E46 M3. There are two I'm looking at. Both are 2005's with competition package, and both have CPO.

Question is, does CPO just cover just manufactured flaws or does it also cover brakes? Is there a different program that covers brakes too? How expensive are the competition pads and rotors?

CPO does not cover anything that's maintenance or wear and tear items. Only the extended maintenance warranty covers that and I don't know if that's even offered on the E46 M3 models.

But yes it does cover mfg flaws like computer control units, thermostats, water pumps, transmissions, internal engine problems like VANOS.

Does not cover suspension bushings, brakes, drive belts, etc.

For more info. check out this link http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...y/Default.aspx

These are OEM pads at retail pricing.
Front pads are $162.42
Front pad sensor is $16.84
Front Rotors are $243.19 each

Thanks!

And one more question, if I buy a CPO car from a private individual the CPO stays with the car correct? How do I verify that it is indeed a CPO'd vehicle? Also, I know the basics and I'm familiar with buying performance cars but is there an E46 Buyer's Guide on the site? I've not seen too much about that.

Yes CPO stays with the vehicle. You will have to request a CPO contract or give the last 7 digits of the VIN number to a BMW Center and they will verify if it has CPO or not.

Might want to try M3forum.net or E46fanatics.com for more info. on the E46 M3
