Tiers before bedtime

Just announced, and we're basically all in a minimum of Tier 2 with a very few exceptions

It is working for me now, don’t know why it didn’t straight away, clicked it a few times and got a government page saying the page didn’t exist. Maybe they were just doing an update for a minute or two.

Tier 3 as well.

Who'd have thought that when the government promised they would level-up the north they just meant put it all in Tier 3.

Chesterfield in tier 3 is actually lower than a lot of the areas in tier 2, such as Liverpool, but it seems the new tiers are simpler than before and we’ve been wrapped up in the wider Derbyshire tier.

So anyone in tier 3 is essentially still in lockdown, as we in Lancashire were before lockdown, even though in our area numbers have never been as high as East Lancs. Us northerners need to be reminded of our place......🙄

Similar but different up here; they didn't put Glasgow into the top tier for ages despite the numbers being over 4x Edinburgh which meant they were still travelling and spreading the virus. Glasgow finally goes up to Tier 4 and then they make it law that we're not allowed to travel in Tier 3 as well, because of the behaviour of people who should have been in Tier 4 for over a month based on the figures. I can't see us now being dropped down into Tier 2 until Glasgow drops there so it looks like we're trapped in the city for the foreseeable.

Like Kent, all in tier 3 even though some parts are amongst the lowest in the country due to Sittingbourne and Swale area...

London in tier 2, all of it, despite a couple of dodgy boroughs....

I probably agree with it, it seemed silly last time where North East Derbyshire was one tier and Chesterfield another. They are too close to differentiate. We live in Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire is about 400m away, and kids school is there.

Apparently you can visit Tier 1 from Tier 2 but you must keep to Tier 2 rules!

Yep, although county boundaries can be as bad - growing up I spent a fair bit of time in Pleasley (she was fit, could put up with Pleasley for that!) and closing times in Derbyshire and Notts were different, 10.30 in one, 11 in other. There was a mass walk up the road at 10.35 to 10.40 to move from one village pub to the other....

I also agree, dont agree with football fans going back, unfair advantage for those clubs that can have fans versus those that cant, both on the pitch on the day and financially (maybe not at bigger clubs where the numbers admitted will be nothing compared to size of stadium, but at L2, national league where every penny counts...)

Plus they are treated as outside events but only way to get outside at a decent ground is via inside concourse. Bogs at half time should be a haven of social distancing...

What about if you are staying in a Tier 1 area though, maybe it is just me but it seems very unclear on this front.

if you live in a tier 2 area, you must continue to follow tier 2 rules when you travel to a tier 1 area. Avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier 3 areas other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through a tier 3 area as a part of a longer journey

I assume you are in Hampshire and therefore in Tier 2 when in normal home, as only IoW is tier 1 in Hants.

So yes, you can travel to a Tier 1 area but abide by rules on mixing that apply in tier 2. So you cant have 6 people from 6 households inside your second home....

What a load of bollocks. Tier 3 for me in the Derbyshire countryside yet London is tier 2. I've generally supported the government throughout lockdown but it's getting a bit silly now...

The numbers in most of London are generally not that high and certainly much lower than the east midlands major conurbations have been in recent weeks. As Goneinsixtyseconds says, cant have difference tier for every street, parish, area so whilst you are normally very fortunate to live in the greatest county of Derbyshire, for once you are being punished for being so fortunate....
