2012 335i xdrive base coupe, will 225/45/18s fit with no rub?
Hello, as the title implies i wanted to ask if anyone knows for sure if 225/45/18 tires will fit on the coupe non sports package. Tire rack called and said they recommend i use the 225/40/18 which is $30 more a tire. Id really rather not spend more, these winter tires are already 173 a piece. So if anyone knows if the 225/45/18 is safe to use with no rubbing at turn, let me know. Stock car and suspension.

I just put the same size winter tires on my E92 and they fit without issue. My car is lowered as well and I haven't noticed any rubbing in turns or bumps. With an xDrive car as long as you're using the same size or diameter tires all around you should be ok.

Thank you very much for the reply. I wasn't sure if it was just a sales pitch to get an extra hundred with scare tactics saying it might rub, or if he was being honest.

The tires are larger in diameter by 22.5mm which is less than an inch. Not insignificant but not a problem at stock ride height. There are a number of tire size comparison calculators online that can help with this (some even include wheel width/offset and such with is cool).

For sure. I looked at some calculators. But couldn't find one that answered if coupe non sports package played a factor or not. But I think I'll bite the bullet and buy the tires. 225/45R-18 BRIDGESTONE BLIZZAK WS90 XL should help in these rough Pennsylvania winters. 15 inches on our first day of snowfall.

Thank you for the confirmation rocky. Any suggestions on aftermarket suspension for the xdrives? First awd car I've owned. Heard they sit higher and ironically have worse suspension than the sport package variant.

If it were me (well I did), I'd go with 225/40's, to keep the height/circumference the same. In the olden days people didn't care at all so sure there's no real harm (remember when tires came out of the wheel wells and were taller than stock like the 225/45's)
p.s. man you got 15" of snow? |

I went with the vogtland springs, as they help eliminate some of the xdrive rake. 1.6in up front and 1.1 in the rear. I have run them on 2 e90s with no complaints. I had to get adjustable control arms in the rear to keep the alignment in spec.

Yeah 15 inches in Northwest PA overnight. I was thinking of just getting a koni or billstein suspension kit for rear and front and call it good. I need to keep some clearance since my driveway is up a real steep side street lol. Scrapes if I dont go real slow.
