BimmerCode Ideas
I did some minor coding on my 2019 X3 (digital Speed Display, lighting options, etc.) but so far I can’t think of any thing I’d change on my 2021 X5 M50i for US drivers.
The only thing I can think of is changing the lane change signal from three to five flashes but I’m not sure it’s worth the effort. What type of things have others coded/changed and for what reasons? |

Here are my top things I'd love to code in:
1. The entire color spectrum for the ambient lighting and being able to mix and match any two colors at the same time. There's a thread on this but it looks super complicated. 2. When shifting the car into reverse, the back up camera automatically comes on as expected. However, I'd like to code in where, when I switch into drive, the front camera comes on. It used to do that but a software update got rid of it. 3. Default view when shifting into reverse should be a wide angle view so I can see traffic on my rear left and right side. Would help backing out of parking spots. 4. Get my laser lights to actually work! |

I have only coded three things on mine (also did the assisted driving view for testing but didn't see value in it): Got rid of warning at startup, default driving mode to Adaptive and set the Brake Force display.

That is his wishlist not things he has coded. You can code the anti-dazzle for the laser lights but not the full brightness. There is a thread with the steps to do the coding.

I didn’t realize I could default to adaptive. I’d really like that functionality.

However, I don't know if that disables PDC auto-brake if you switch to wide cam view, does anyone know, because it just saved my a$$ from potentially a very expensive mistake of leaving heavy duty garbage bin behind the car and trying to back up, PDC stopped me because I actually wasn't looking there because my garage is so tight all the beeps and lights go off even if there is nothing and kind numbed me from paying attention to beeps.

Keep Headlights off at Restart
I wish I could code the car to let me control whether the headlights are on or off at startup. Having to start the car (headlights come on) and have to press the headlight off switch is ridiculous.
There must be some coding to skip the AUTO position on restart? Same thing should be available for the rear DRL's. Seems in the US, BMW thinks they know better. |

Curious in what condition you would want the headlights off, if the lights are called by ambient brightness? I liked the older dial control too, but I never thought I would need the lights off. Do you like park against someone's window and don't want them to have blast of headlights?

I understand you garage is dark and headlights comes on.
Don't turn them of manually. Lets be out of garage and the they will goes off when the Auto is ON due to the day lights.

I coded the partial turn signal from 3 to 5 and Adaptive as default. Adaptive as default works as advertised but I still only get 3 flashes, not 5, anyone else have this issue or have a remedy?

After coding it to 5 did you go into and select that option. It could be that the coding just enables the checkbox for 5 to appear. I have not tried it but just guessing. You may also want to reboot iDrive.
