Coolant brand

Hey guys... gonna flush my coolant over the holiday break. Was wondering if I had to use the BMW concentrate coolant or could I get away with the 50/50 mixes found at the local auto store. Not a huge deal, just figured I'd ask in case I have to order it from FCP.

Owners complain about the cost of BMW coolant, but are willing to overpay for distilled water in a 50/50 mix? Crazy!

Just order a gallon or two from BMW of South Atlanta to have on hand. Notice the coupon at the top of the page: https://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/

I've used Zerex G-48 coolant from NAPA or Advance Auto without problems, but it's just as easy to get the right stuff from BMW.

Stick with the concentrate.

The regular orange/yellow/pink stuff at the local autozone isn't suitable, it will react negatively with the traces of old coolant and the plastics/metals inside the engine.

Sorry, but incorrect. Earlier I picked up 2 gallons Peak European Blue 50/50 for $25.

I read a ton of reviews and all that referenced BMWs were positive, and I figured if it doesn't work well, then I'm only out 25 bucks

Reminds me, but this is the actual coolant used by BMW - https://www.bimmerworld.com/Fluids/B...L-8114117.html

Only recently did they start using the newer lilac coloured stuff that VAG has had for a few years.
