Finally...

I'm not much of a cabrio guy so I wont say much on it apart from I think it'll look nicer than rivals.

That is one good looking Cabrio. I wonder how it will look with the hood up?

Eh, it's alright. Like you I'm not a big vert fan. The roofline is half of the reason why the A5/S5 looks good in the first place.

Don't know if I'd take it over an M-Sport e93 335i, but who knows.

I think it translated into a convertible pretty nicely, although I'd have to see a side profile picture to confirm this. Moreover, I wish automakers would get rid of the chrome trim that goes around the entire car (if you know what I mean)

You know I saw the coupe in person a few days ago and was somewhat dissapointed. The lines on the A5/S5 don't strike accord w/ my soul, whatever that means.

I know what you mean. I've noticed something about the A5/S5 design lately (and this applies to new-age Audi design in general).

The latest designs are indeed handsome, but there's no denying the fact that the geometric design is highly calculated, arguably to the point of being too much so. As opposed to BMW designs, which seem to have purposeful imperfections or styling cues that buck the increasing trend of bland generic design, Audi designs don't grow on me. If anything, they're best looking from the start, and then they slowly wear as time goes on.

I see more and more A5s on the street, and with each viewing they become less and less interesting. I noticed that the A5/S5 design requires even more play with light than BMW design, simply because without complex lighting, the design looks very blobby and shapeless. There's very little concavity in its design apart from the flanks. The creases are also very small and subtle. The hood is rather plain, and the rear 3/4 on both the A4 and A5 are bland bland bland. The more you look at the rear of an A5/S5, the more you see how little surface detail there actually is.

Yeah, I'm done.

I'm a fan of both the 3 series and the A5/S5, but not in a million years would I say that a showroom stock 3 series is less plain than a showroom stock S5. I think my 335 looks ok, but it is incredibly slab sided. From almost every angle. I can't wait to get my m-tech sides on to break up the generic shape. And without an aero lip, the front lacks character and "complexity".

But to each their own.

I have to agree. The thing I love about the S5 though is it's wide stance and roofline. That just does it for me. The wavy character line is unique too but def needs light otherwise the car looks big/heavy...which aint good.

With the roof chopped off, it looks too much like a "refreshed" A4 cabrio. I think the A5 is one of Audi's nicest looking cars and never cared much for the A4 so I am not a big fan of the A5 with it's roof off.
