Seeking Suggestions on Android Head Unit - Car with currently no video

Hello,
new in the world of BMW, just got me a well kept E90.

Now i'm on a project to take away all the damn alarms and bells (previous owner replaced *all* the lights, creating a lot of FRM confusion); and while i'm at it, i wanted to get a new head unit.

There's a lot of confusion in me as to CIC, CCC or whatever type of connection these head units go with.

Right now i'm looking at this one:

https://it.aliexpress.com/item/4001346385620.html
4gb ram 64gb rom
LTE
Android 10
Carplay

Basically, i would want to install Plex on it and give it to my SO to watch during travel ; whilst using Google Maps for navigation.

I've been reading around that there's some issues with these to use AUX?

So, if anyone would have a better solution, i'm all ears!

I dont care about the LTE much, but i do care about snappiness (4gb ram and a good cpu), and a bit about Android Auto (never tried, but since its there, i figure its quite good so would like to have it)

My car:

Blue water metallic is a nice color, congrats!

I just purchased my e93 in July. I opted for one of the Eonon head units. Came highly recommended. I went with the 9 inch unit, Android 10, apple carplay and android auto.......it was literally plug and play. It fits where the factory head unit is. The HVAC controls move down and I opted for the kit that moved my seat heater buttons down to where the ash tray was. In essence an ash tray delete. No cutting. No splicing. Plug and play.

I decided against the unit you posted because it requires cutting the dash. Not something I wanted to mess with on a car I just bought.

Do you have a link for yours?

ITs also in Aliexpress?

The thing is, yeah, cutting the dash is daunting, mostly i fear i'd do it wrong and i'd need to buy a new one, but the original radio (you mean this?) over the aircon control, is in a position where i wouldn't look easily and it would distract from the road.

Got any pics?

I purchased directly from Eonon. That's the unit I went with. I don't find it distracting in the least honestly. I'd find it much more distracting if it were directly in my line of sight. Especially if I planned to play video while driving. Eonon sells a unit just like the one you've linked. You can't really go wrong with either. The dash cutting was just more then I wanted to get into. Happy with my choice.

Before you do anything with your car you have to know what's in it.
If you already have a Nav it's not very feasible to put in an aftemarket
head unit that does not piggyback on the existing idrive.
Also which sound system you have is of major concern .
The logic 7 system and amp creates extra difficulty's.
Looks like you have the base system.

Hey there,
thanks for the helpful bits

I have a base system stereo, and also no navi at the moment.

Basically, the basic of the basics :-)
